By Ant Evans: Champion Joe Calzaghe could soon be stripped of the IBF 168lbs championship he ripped from Jeff Lacy in that memorable 12 rounder in March. If the unbeaten Welshman, who also holds the WBO title, does not agree to fight IBF No.1 Robert Stieglitz by December, it appears the New Jersey based organisation will withdraw their recognition of him as the ruler of the super-middleweight division.
As reported here earlier in the week, Calzaghe is in negotiations to fight American Peter Manfredo, perhaps on March 10 in the UK.

Politics SUCK! He should be fighting Kessler and Kessler only. They are the two stand outs in this division. If the broadcasters are so keen to get Manfredo on screen, put him against Lacy. Mundine vs Manfredo could also happen. Mundine would flog him. Joe Vs Mikkel Kessler is all that should be made go ahead at this weight. >:mad

This is better news than Manfredo though.
Joe aint gonna fight Kess...I just feel it in me bones...he's already stated repeatedly that he's not interested in Kessler period.
A mandatory's a mandatory. If he aint gonna fight Kess then this is the way it should go down.

i cant see how this russian fela has earned his right at a title shot really. he hasnt beaten anyone and there are super middle weight fighters out there more deserving of a shot than this unknown. it's politicks bull shit again and i can hear the little rants of this site now if calzaghe faught this fela.
if you ask me calzaghe should fight kessler and all the sandtioning bodies should be happy with one overall division champ. but we all know they won't be and all the titles won't stay unified for long if they were.

He should say f*** the belt and let them take it whatever sanctioning bodies are retarded anyways. Go on and fight kess, and jermaine. If one of these 2 fights does't happen before joe retieres I'll be sorely dissapointed, especially since he's been talking about how badly he wants to fight jt, and well here jt is saying he's moving up to 168, so there should be nothing to stop this fight from happening!

Not me. I'd rather him follow the pecking order of the mandatory process...but I'd rather him fight Kess instead.

Right Whack, I prety much posted the same thing on Joes web site. But MAN! They are every bit a devoted/blinded as hard core Kessler fans. "Joe can do no wrong! He is super man".........Which is fine. I really dont care what they think or "want" to believe. Im sure Ill be kicked off that site soon,although I have been respectful (havnt gone all Royal on them and I dont plan to). ;D

Let me say this...I think Joe is a damned fine fighter...until all is said & done & contracts are signed...I won't be looking at it like VD does...but once I see him in the ring with Manfredo...I can't say that I'll feel the same.
Kessler is the only fight out there for Joe, IWO.

It's just such a tuff call.
Kessler seems like the man to beat...but if Taylor is moving up to 168 or 175...that's what I believe Joe will go for...because if he can't get to Hopkins directly...he'll try to do so through Taylor.
