David Haye v Giancobbe Fragomeni European Title RBR - 10pm SS1
"The Path to glory starts with revenge" is the title that has been handed to this fight, between the two fighters who last met in the trials for the 2000 Olympics, which ended up in Haye losing his chance at Olympic glory. In the promotional poster for tonight's fight, Fragomeni has been mockingly dubbed "The KO Victim", and just another step towards world glory for David Haye. Haye has bemoaned the referee's shocking decisions, in his opinion, in the Olympic trials 7 years ago, and has promised to knock out his Italian opponent, who has an unblemished 21-0 record, and also claiming the WBC's International Cruiserweight Title during those bouts. The fight also doubles as a WBC Title Eliminator, with the winner going one step closer to challenging WBC, WBA and IBF titlist O'Neil Bell.
David Haye: (17-1 , 16 KOs) - With the solitary blemish on his professional record coming in an early challenge for the IBO Cruiserweight strap in September 2004, Haye has compiled an impressive record of knockouts, with 11 of those coming within 6 minutes in the ring. The self-proclaimed "Hayemaker's" record of KO's took a decidedly disappointing nosedive with a snoozer against Ismail Abdoul, throwing very few punches and just doing enough to win. If this attitude continues, I may well not make it through to the end of the 6th round, but hopefully he will have turned a corner in knowing he can go 12 rounds, and move on from there. If Haye goes out and throws the bombs we know that he can, then there is no doubt that he will trouble Fragomeni's as yet untested chin, but the Italian is the master of the points win, so trying to go the distance could be a problem for him.
Giancobbe Fragomeni (21-0, 9 KOs) - For the 37-year old Italian, who was already 30 years old when he beat the 19-year old David Haye in the Olympic trials, this fight could well be the one that defines his career. Having fought as an amateur for many years, he did not become a professional until he was 31 years old, and has since built up his 21 fight undefeated streak, which also includes and 8 rounder against Haye victim Ismail Abdoul. Yet despite this, the only creditable victory was over hot prospect Daniel Bispo to claim the WBC International title, but going in against David Haye will prove whether his chin is all that it can be, and at 37, the prospect of a shot at world titlist O'Neil Bell as the WBC mandatory challenger is something that he will only have one shot at, and it is up to him to grasp it with both hands.

Fwock me...there is a time frame that is simply known as "mountain time"? I am just somewhat amused, as whenever I'm late for an appointment, I'm always on "country time". Thanks for the heads up mate, I don't think that I personally have ever been in the states beyond the Eastern time zone except when flying through to Oceania.

Come on Wossy, you really think that Fragomeni has a chance. He's 37 years old, and granted, he has the stature of a rugby prop, I can't see beyond a victory for the much developed Haye.
Haye predicts: "I'm not going to have to chase him, he's going to come at me and it is going to be an explosion in th middle of the ring."
Let's hope so.

I think the 1/33 on for Haye says it all.

Re: David Haye v Giancobbe Fragomeni European Title RBR - 10pm SS1
Well, the beers have been flowing, as I watched Wales destroy Canada in the rugby, but I've been looking forwards to this one, as we get to see if Haye is all that his talk, and previous exploits would suggest.
Ringwalks:
Fragomeni looks nervous, coming in to some music I never heard before, but attired in an AC Milan shirt adorned with the number 8 of Gennaro Gattuso beneath his robe.
Haye's ringwalk is voiced over by famed british rap DJ Tim Westwood, and based on a James Brown track. He looks confident and relaxed, chatting with folks on his way through the coridors, into the main arena. Rapturous applause from the crowd, and Haye is loving it.
Bring it on!
