Gerald McClellan to meet Nigel Benn after 12 years!

Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan are to be brought together for the first time since their tragic fight nearly 12 years ago at a huge fundraising event at London's Grosvenor Hotel on February 24. The event is being organised by Sports Plus Management, a promotional agency in the UK run by former world welterweight title challenger Kevin Lueshing. Lueshing said many big names, past and present, were expected to attend, including legends Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler, and British world champions Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton. Michael Watson, himself seriously injured in a fight with Chris Eubank in 1991, is also on the guest list, Lueshing said. McClellan, now 39, is to be flown over from the U.S. for the event, which is being staged to raise money for his medical care. A trust fund has already been set up in McClellan's name

ahh man lueshing is the guy who had a great exciting 3 or 4 round bout with tito for the ibf welterweight title isnt he?
knocked tito down pretty bad in the first...
and got sparked bad as it gets in the third or fourth! great fight!

I'm Glad the story finally broke....I found out from Geralds sister back in August that something was in the works to bring Gerald and Nigel together...I promised Lisa I wouldnt say anything ;D since it wasnt finalized and getting them together was a touchy subject, not just for Gerald but Nigel too..She was telling me that all these years they never asked Gerald what they thought of Nigel after what went down, So when they approached the family about getting them together..She sat down with Gerald and asked him if he was mad at Nigel...He replied by basically saying he wasnt mad and neither should anyone else..he knew the risks of fighting(I'm Paraphrasing)...
Wish I could go..Take plenty of pictures for us Smash :coolclick:

If i can get in then im 99% sure i can bag a Hagler,Leonard,Benn,Eubank and ultimately a McClellan interview for the site.

I heard he bought a labrador, taped up it's mouth and set his pitbull 'Duece' on it, who promptly ripped out it's throat.
Also his penchant for violence against women, running over Flamingo's and debt collecting with his fists.

I have a feeling this could turn out to be heartwarming or really really sad. Hate to think negative but I kind of feel the same way about seeing Ali. I mean a couple years ago at the all star game it was awesome how he was throwing punches at Jeter but then when I saw him at the Klitschko fight it was sad. But it's going to a good cause. He may not have been the best person but no one deserves to be trapped in their own body like that.
