Foreman, Crawford, Mussachio in action
The complete card is pretty much set for Saturday's Top Rank's SHOWTIME-televised welterweight title twinbill at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. Unbeatens Miguel Cotto (27-0, 22 KOs) and Carlos Quintana (23-0, 18 KOs) fight for the vacant WBA welterweight title, plus WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito (33-4, 24 KOs) defends against once-beaten Joshua Clottey (30-1, 20 KOs). A number of unbeaten prospects worth watching will see action in off-TV bouts. The top non-TV attraction features unbeaten jr middleweight Yuri Foreman (21-0, 8 KOs) against Miguel Hernandez (19-5, 9 KOs). Other fights include unbeaten welterweight Henry Crawford (12-0-1, 5 KOs) against spoiler Clarence Taylor (11-10-2, 5 KOs); unbeaten super middleweight Chuck Mussachio (7-0, 3 KOs) against Tony Pope (15-12-1, 11 KOs); featherweight Eric Hunter (5-0, 3 KOs) versus Oscar Martinez (8-9, 4 KOs); middleweight Wayne Johnson (13-1, 8 KOs) against Joe Christy (5-9-1, 2 KOs) and bantamweight Jesus Manuel Rojas (4-0, 4 KOs) against TBA.
Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
wondered when they were gonna announce that...

on another note is this Quintana guy any good... i think its a very risky fight going of the record and will be putting some dosh on the upset.
but has anyone seen this guy fight or have any insight for me ?

Yeah Quintana is a great fighter, he did more than expose Joel Julio, he showed that he has patience, and ring smarts. The guy can slug as well.
This is by far IMO a bigger challenge to go up to welter than PBF or Hatton took. Quintana has a very good chance of beating Cotto, although it's hard to judge because we don't know how Cotto will be at Welter. I am guessing that Cotto's power will be amplified by moving up in weight.
Still, this ones a toss-up for me.

CC,was about to write exactly the same...experts have been talking about him for a while and although I'm a HUGE Cotto fan,I know it'll be a very hard fight especially as it's his first at 147! He schooled the highly rated(at the time ) Joel Julio and is slick but sits on his shots so has power.. ALOT depends on how well Cotto has carried his power up,if hasn't,it's going to be a long night!

I never actually saw Quintana vs Julio.. But do you think Joels recently losing again to Cosme Rivera suggests Quintana may have looked better than he was, or did he really shine through...

I've seen Majesty ask this too and I believe Quintana's victory was impressive, not just the fact he won but the manner he won in,slickness, ring generalship etc. Julio V Rivera,Julio did try to fight off the backfoot.giving Rivera chance and although Julio was knocked down late,I don't think it was the MASSIVE robbery everyone makes it out to be,,the rounds were tough to score and it was more Rivera was able to take his power!(which is surprising given that he was stopped by Judah so maybe Judah should get more credit for his victory over Cosme?)
Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
cheers for the video smash CC
and for the comments guys...
didnt like the way he got hit then stuck his chin out ??? ??? ??? he better not do that with Cotto :-X
i think this is the same kinda challange as Ricky did moving up against an unbeaten fighter who is coming off a kinda shock win as Collazo did.
saying that i think Cotto will handle the move up far better than Ricky did and will thrive from it... he been struggling for some time to make weight so this move up may be just what is needed.
still a gamble though... but deserves credit for it ;)

Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
Cotto strikes me as having a broader frame that say a Hatton and feel he'll carry power a Welter. Quintana does need to watch himself as he (at times) is wide open to a counter in the above clip.
Cotto KO's him imo ;)
Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
If Cotto beats Quintana and his mandatory(Urkal),I want Hatton to bring his ass to 147!!!
Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
Jesus, anyone would think Quintana was JCC or sommat ::**
No way they risk him with a livebody and so many lucrative fights at 147.
Cotto round 4

Point being made is Quintana is skilled and has proven it.....and Arum intially refused Quintana but Cotto's camp protested.

You beat me to the point lol
Yes Quintana is 30, he is definately in his prime and I don't think anyone here is saying he's a god or anything, but he is a great boxer
with a good chin and some pretty good power to boot.
Cotto's move up to 147
vs. Carlos Quintana 23-0-0 (18 KOs) Age 30
in his prime, undefeated, natural Welter, can box and slug, has a
good chin, just coming off of a win against Joel Julio, who some
say was trying to mimic Cotto's power technique. The main reason
he is dangerous is he knows when to box and when to slug, and can
do both. Downside he has very little TV exposure and has openings
that an astute boxer could capitalize on.
PBF's move up to 147
vs. Sharmba Mitchell 56-4-0 (30 KOs) Age 35
past his prime, naturally a superfeather, can box, definately
can't trade though all of his defeats came by way of KO
or TKO. He has had the experience of fighting some real
top level elite guys, Kostya Tszyu (twice) and Vince Phillips
but his chin gets exposed everytime he gets near the top
Hatton's move up to 147
vs. Luis Collazo 26-1-0 (12 KOs) Age 25
very young to be a title holder, he has really good boxing
skills, but very little TV exposure. Also for being a natural
Welter he has very little power, relative to the rest of the division.
He is still very young and will still be a threat in the future,
if anyone will fight him.
IMO he is far the better opponent than those other two took
and he is far more dangerous. To further extrapolate, There
is a lot more pressure on Cotto than Quintana, he is the one
moving up, he is the one that has been on TV a lot.
Re: Cotto, Margarito full card!
Owe you a CC in 24 KS,great way of breaking it down my man, awesome analysis!!!!I think that puts into perspective the jump Cotto is taking and I think it's safe to say it's a risk although 1 thing I have notived about Quintana is that he looks open to bodyshots!
