Sechew Powell-Ishe Smith in discussion!


On February 17 HBO Boxing After Dark heads to the Hammerstein Ballroom to feature two of New York's brightest talents, Paulie Malignaggi and Sechew Powell. Promoter Lou DiBella has informed Boxingtalk.com that Malignaggi will face Edner Cherry in the main event. Although the co-feature has not yet been solidified, DiBella stated that Sechew Powell is ready to fight Ishe Smith, it's just matter of Smith, a regular contributor to Boxingtalk, wanting to take their offer. "Ishe talks a good game and he writes a good column, now let's see if he wants a fight," stated DiBella. The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City will host all of the action. Undefeated junior welterweight Dmitriy Salita was originally penciled in to face Edgar Santana, but sources close to Santana inform us that Salita's "people backed out." DiBella refused to comment on the matter.

Ishe is fighting Sechew? Great matchup hopefully this will shut him up about not getting any decent opponents.

If he comes through against Powell then he will have backed up his own hype, if not his constant whining about Sergio's padded record and the fact that the other Contenders never fought anybody will look very hollow indeed.

It's time for Ishe to put up or shut up.

I hope he backs his smack up, I like him as a fighter, its just his constant girlie bitching that gets me

Well done Paulie for picking an opponent that is on a hot streak, fighting guys with good form only makes you better. I like the way Paulie does his business, and the way he faught against Cotto too. He's a tough guy, I can't think of many guys that would take so much punishment yet still be so game, he took Miguel almost to the wire as well. 2007 could be a great year for the magic man.

Also, I think Ishe has picked a tough tough opponent there for himself, Honestly I think he'll struggle with Powell.

CC agreed. Paulie really showed what he was made of against Cotto, before that fight, I would have never considered having a chin as being one of his strengths, but damn from the second round on fighting with a broken jaw, DAMN!!

Paulie is very quick, I don't know if Cherry will be able to cut-off the ring, it will be an interesting match though.
