Good post Smash - amazing how much Hearns' style changed from the amateurs to the pros?
And for a 17 year old he was gifted 8)
Saw this a while back would have loved to see them in the pros. Shobox had Ronald Hearns fight Aaron Pryor's son a while back and I was hoping they would show that (I had heard about it before) but they didn't. Couple weeks later it popped up on the internet.
Wierd how Hearns had a very small number of KO's in his amatuer career then turned into a KO king in the pros.
In the clip, despite being only a kid and therefore tiring early (a 17 year old v a 20 year old is a tough matchup), I did notice that in the second round, once Hearns stopped dancing and pushed Pryor back - it was only for about 15 seconds or so - he absolutely owned him.
Great matchup, but I think a prime Hearns would have stood his ground, speared Pryor on his long left and then smashed him with the right.
Mind you, I can also see why Pryor developed into a great fighter!
