What Punchbag & What bag gloves
Hi,
only a boxing spectator really. I have done Thai boxing in the distant past. An easy question for you really. For the days I can't get to the gym my wife has offered to buy me a leather punch bag for xmas.
The only time I have to punch for real is when the crap hits the fan in my part time job as a door supervisor.
My own criteria is that it must be at least 4ft and quite broad. What I am finding confusing is the difference in bag weights etc.
I am a big guy at 6'7 so need something that can take some punishment. I have been looking through the list of bags on Sugarays.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which bag would suit me best?
Also what bag gloves, I have already said my height I have big hands and need something they are going to fit into comfortably. Many brands go to XL size I have only seen Everlast Pro mits in XXL and as most things are bought on the net now it is not really practical to try them on.
If there are any others on here with big hnds like Lennox Lewis size then your advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Ian
Re: What Punchbag & What bag gloves
mate your a big fela and an average 4 foot bag isn't big enough for ya. you need a heavy bag and it would be worth forking out that bit extra to get a decent one. heavy bags are awesome cos they hardly swing and you can give em hell. but you would need a decent bracket or frame for it cos it would be so heavy. some bags are to big for the bracket and can rip em off the wall. if you get a heavy bag make sure you put some wraps on aswell bud cos you can easily knacker your wrists. i would say to ya to deffo let your missus buy you a bag. it will be the best thing you ever buy.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. Luckily I live on a farm and can hang the bag from the joists in the barn. When you say a normal bag, do you just mean that a cheap and nasty bag won't do and I need to buy quality?
I will show you what I am looking at

Re: What Punchbag & What bag gloves
Hi,
thanks for that. All I can say is "if only I lived in the U.S.A I would buy them both. Both I think they would need to charter a bulk carrier to get it over to the UK. I don't think it ill be cost efective for me to import one although part of my business does import from the states every month.

best one I have seen in the UK so far is the WINDY Monster Heavy Bag from Thailand. 5ft long and 4.5ft around weighing 150lbs.
