The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
Gotta' love that guy!
I have to admit, I was 99.999% sure that this fight would be over within 6 rounds. I thought Taylor would be much too strong and dominant for the much smaller Ouma, but boy was I wrong. There he was bulldozing Jermain around the ring like he was the bigger man and walking straight through Taylor's hardest punches! He may not have been the bigger man in reality, but he certainly took the size advantage when it came to heart... and how refreshing was it to see a fighter who is smiling at the end of every round? 8)
An amazing effort from a classy individual!
Taylor won the fight, but Kassim won the respect! 8)

I mean he was game but like I said in the other thread, I thought he would b able to throw his volume punching per round. Credit to JT for nuetralizing that.....
Within seconds you could see the advantages that Ouma was giving up at 160....
Ouma doesn't belong there he needs to get back down to 154.....

100% agreed my friend, i never thought he'll decision Ouma.
Class guy and tremendous heart :appl:
Re: The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
I want to see Ouma fight the winner of the Rivera Simms fight.
Re: The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
He got beat badly but still fought on heart. The fight wasn't close, but he did impress me with his never say die attitude. He has a wicked chin too.

Honestly man, I never even expected him to be able to get close to Taylor. I thought Jermain would pick him to pieces with the jab and finish him after about 3 rounds, especially if you remember back to the Ouma/Karmazin fight where Ouma was floored a couple of times. Jermain is superior to Karmazin in every aspect, yet, it was like Kassim had convinced himself that he would not be hurt on the night... I NEVER expected Jermain to be the one who was spoiling up close and backing off. That was pretty amazing!
No doubt Jermain won the fight easily, but Kassim put in one of the performances of the year in my opinion.

Agreed.
As gutsy as his performance was last night, it was clear that he was never going to win. If he can do that again at 154, he will be more than capable of claiming some titles I reckon.

Hell yeah man, he shifted a truckload of punishment during that fight but Jermain just could not dent his chin, or his heart. He was like a machine in there!
Re: The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
He showed heart and determination but other than that,I wasn't really impressed! I've never really liked Ouma, don't know why and although I respect him for moving up,and backing up Ouma all throughout,I didn't see that stamina, work ethic he is known for. However,I did expect JT to knock him out so yep, guess you are right Ogg's,Ouma deserves respect,if only for his heart and will power!

CutMe
Ain't that the truth...
Re: The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
Couldn't believe it seeing him running through a bigger man like that without stumbling, that alone is amazing. Wish he had a bit more power though, that would've made the fight more competitive.

:coolclick: He gained a hell of alot of respect from people after that, he really fought his heart out.
his I love merchant hat was so funny, i wonder if mayweather has one too?

I was in disbelief at how sturdy he seemed to be in the later rounds, but at no point did I think of a "machine." Unless your referring to one of those toys that once they run into a wall they just keep marching into it until their battery dies. Ouma just had an energizer battery.

Re: The Kassim Ouma appreciation thread
Ouma is one of my favorites but he was out of his league at 160.
Taylor had nothing but respect for him....props to JT as well.
Kassim is always a class act, I'm happy he did as good as he did.
