Majestic thoughts (On Jermain Taylor)
Aside from the obvious bad performance last night..
Taylor also lacks balance on his front foot as Lennox pointed out a lot in the Wright fight.
And a lot of fans are wondering the question "What happened to Jermain Taylor?"
Maybe the fights with Bernard Hopkins wrecked him to an extent?
Maybe he is having trouble making 160?
It's none of those in my opinion.
Like I said when Chad Dawson or Jermain Taylor come up. 
They are manufactured fighters designed to catch your eye with their advantages at certain levels.  They have problems that aren't going to be fixed because it's in their entire fighting style.
Jermain was manufactured to look spectacular on the come up with his shotgun jab and explosive power, but when he faced all those experienced foes, and even Ouma he didn't look like he did before and the answer is because of the competition upping themself.  People say he looked bad against Hopkins and Wright and that nobody looks good against them.  But like I said its in his style, there was no excuse for Ouma who was a blown up 154 pounder.  After how Karmazin looked against Ouma for Jermain to have such a tough time maybe Jermain isn't all he was hyped up to be.
But this is the problem with boxing, they are so desperate for a superstar that they will force someone down your throat to convince you that they are better then they truly are.
It is sort of like when the NBA tried to convince us that LeBron was the next Jordan in his rookie year and the second coming of Magic Johnson ::** I don't knock LeBron because he is very talentewd, but all the hype and the feeling that he's trying to be forced down my throat as a fan made me dislike him, and it had nothing to do with his skills.
That is Jermain Taylor basically, he is the LeBron James of boxing(to an extent)
It was near sickening to hear Lampley proud Jermain as "You got a new star in boxing!! The king of the Middleweights!!" after his first fight with Hopkins as if he had dominated Bernard and been hit once, or as Lampley put a missed punch by Taylor the "best right hand of the fight."  These are the kind of things that made me start to dislike Jermain Taylor and it had nothing to do with his skills or his personality which I can dig, I really dig on Jermain's personality(but seems too much a goody goody to me and lets Dibella blow smoke up his rear) but thats just my opinion. 
But I like Jermain, I really do, but when they try to force a superstar down your throat you expect a lot, especially if they look impressive against the kind of competition they are meant to. And if they don't deliver then they look ordinary, then you realise maybe they were always that way and that is what makes me dislike these situations and processes.  But like the old saying goes "There's chinks in the armor, but look at that armor!!"
Same applies for fighters like Chad Dawson and Jermain Taylor and when the truth finally appears you wonder what happened to the fighters they were before now... nothing, and thats why they are manufactured, because nothing happened to THEM.

I agree Taylor is a work in progress but he represents everything that is good in Boxing a Classy down to earth guy who is a family man and his close to his community and acts like he works the drive thru at McDonalds not a MultiMillion Dollar Prize fighter... Oh and by the way will fight anyone anytime anywere...Who isint afraid to fight the best... ;) He is on the doorstep of his prime

CC Maj,always enjoy reading your perspective on things.JT,although you are correct that Ouma's output was halfed,it STILL wasn't an impressive performance by Taylor. Maj I like the way you break down his other technical flaws and the whole being force fed a star is a really interesting perspective.What do you think will happen with JT now though bro? Also,does it not reflect badly on B Hop that he did not beat this technically lacking youngster? Just a thought.

I like Taylor as a person fine, and I respect his willingness to fight guys like Hopkins and Wright. In fact I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for fighting Winky right after Hopkins.
But I just don't like to watch him fight. And its not cause he's beaten two of my favorite fighters in Hopkins and Ouma.They brought in Ouma solely to make Taylor look good, they figured that after fighting two of the toughest to hit guys in boxing, they would bring in a guy who comes forward all night and trades, is not that hard to hit, and until Saturday was thought to maybe have a questionable chin. He was brought in so Taylor could knock him the F*** out and look good. And he was still boring, still kind of just did enough to win. He should have tried to back up Ouma, instead of jumping back and hugging all night. Yeah his power did cut Ouma's output, but the incessant clinching didn't hurt either.
But you could make a case that he went 3-0 against Hopkins and Wright (I don't agree but you could make a case) and nobody denies he beat Ouma. He must be doing something right.

It’s important to remember Hopkins and Wright didn’t look good against Taylor either ! Taylor is a very good fighter.. However I don't like all that hugging Manny is teaching him, its fucking up his naturally aggressive style and making him look like a snatch box ! Manny is fucking up boxing, with that punch and grab shit !
I also think Jermain is just not as hungry as he once was. Money can soften that fighting spirit . I think that’s the extent of it, JMO ! O0

I agree and see where you are coming from for the most part.
When and if Taylor steps in the ring with a power puncher, I think we will see the end of his '0'!
But please, please don't put Jermain Tayor in boxing on the same level as Lebron in basketball!!!!

I think that Jermain will go on until he is beaten. Or whatever HBO or Dibella decides to do with him.
And I don't think it reflects badly on Hopkins(who I feel won the first fight and second fight could have gone anyway) and it doesn't reflect bad on Hopkins who already built his legacy while Jermain is trying to make his and it seems like his legacy already written is being forced down the throats of fans that have to get through it.

if ouma was as bad against taylor as he was against karmazin, he wouldnt have made it out of the first 2 rounds. the way i saw it was taylor looking for an early ko, not finding it, and using too much energy which allowed ouma to get into the fight later. even so, he outboxed kassim and earned a clear-cut victory. seriously give ouma some credit and dont be so unfair to jermain.
