He has not had a title shot since 1997 when he lost the rematch with Lennox Lewis and has only lost one fight since then ( a very close decision to DaVaroll Williamson) He Just knocked out Yanqui Diaz and has scooped up some other decent wins in the past few years but Oliver aint gettin any younger so someone should give him another shot. Hes an exciting fighter to watch and one of the heaviest hitters in the game.
Tell him to put some money together to buy a shot and he'll get one.
Idon't know?, remember that mental breakdown he had years ago -vs.- Lewis ? .that was kind of like throwing the fight if you ask me.. I have no interest in seeing a McCall fight

I'm sure McCall can still make any current title-holder a bit nervous. If his head was screwed on straight, which it really never was, he would have been a
great champ. He has a lot of skill, great punch, great chin, but a twisted psyche ala Ike Ibeabuchi. It's a real shame.
Well let's take a look.. Since the loss to Lewis he's had
24 fights inc. the one loss to Williamson, who was 20-3.
Of the 23 other fights that he won their combined records are
418-302-21 for an average of about 18-14-1.
Not exactly world beaters.
Since the loss to DaVarryl Williamson he's had 9 fights
combined record 188-99-9 for an average of 21-11-1
The only fighter of any worth was the one against Juan Carlos Gomez (the last fight of Gomez's career)
McCall was beaten soundly in that fight on all 3 score cards 98-92 ,98-92,96-94
and then the fight was ruled a no contest after McCall tested positive for Cocaine. Its 8 years since the Lewis drug induced breakdown guess the guys never heard of rehab!
Fighting bums and snorting coke are not the pathway to the most coveted sports title in the world, the heavyweight championship.
Lets not forget this guy RUINED a once in a lifetime title shot by breaking down,crying,and refusing to fight.
Too many guys working hard and taking on top guys to make room for this Wacko.
I would actually like to see if Wladimir could KO him....Oliver has got one of the best chins EVER
I think he outlasts Briggs and Maskaev and I think he KO's Valuev but I don't think he deserves a shot for beating Yanqui Diaz
No interest in McCall but you think your buddy Evander Holyfield deserves another shot? AS far as I can see, then I would suggest that they're both former champs, although Evander is a few years older, and I would be perfectly happy to see them fight off for the promise of a title, but they both need to start beating more of the young contenders before they get a shot.Quote:
