Miranda vs Gibbs - Press conference pics and news

Today was the press conference for the Saturday night HBO fight between Miranda and Gibbs.
Here are a couple of pics.
The first shows Miranda holding a clear bad with 2 titanium plates and 22 screws. He said to Gibbs, 'After my fight in Germany, Abraham was rushed to the hospital and this is what they inserted into his jaw. I wish you the best, but I will be fighting with the same fists and power that did this to Abraham. I am giving you these screws and metal to keep with you in your corner so you will have the items needed in case the same happens to you.'

His whole talk was very funny (in Spanish) and the Latin crowd that came to the press conference was on the floor laughing during most of his 10 minute speech. A lot was lost with the interpreter, but the point still got across to Gibbs.

Really dig on Gibbs.

He's of the Hopkins clan...by marriage though.

Great fellar. Good skills, decent power, & in over his head with Miranda though.

Wish him the best. Would love to see the ole' upset on this one, but unfortunately...I won't get to see this fight as I will be out of town on this one.

I'm going with Gibbs on this one, I think he will take a UD.

Miranda by KO, probably a pretty brutal one. Gibbs legs just seem to go when he gets hit flush, and Miranda's almost surely the biggest puncher he's faced. Gibbs should just try to land something big, I don't think he can stay up for more than 6-8 rounds at most. I'd like him to win but it would be a surprise.

Miranda's shown a much better ability to take a punch though overall. Sure he got wobbled a bit by Abraham but Abraham's a much stronger puncher than Edouard who got Gibbs out in a four. Great fight but Edouard is not on Miranda's level.

IMO Miranda's people wanted him to look spectacular on HBO so they brought in a guy who comes to fight but is a bit too chinny to take Miranda's punches for a while.

Miranda was nearly taken out by Eastman until Howards lazyness got himself caught, admittedly Miranda must have some power to do that to howard, hes got a good chin

I was wonderin why there was no drunken RBR on this one. Well, I won't get to see it either, I gotta work from 2-10:30 pm tomorrow, which sucks, but I'll have my dad tape it or just DVR it on my tv. I don't think Gibbs is THAT much of an underdog myself. He is probably the better overall boxer than Miranda, though he does have less power and less of a chin which could very well be his downfall. I like both guys quite a bit, so I say let the best man win. And damnit if Gibbs doesn't look like a 160 lb James Toney in that pic, a lot like Toney. The way I see it, whoever wins this one is the next Middle Weight Champion of the world once Taylor moves up, and I would give both a good chance of beating Taylor if Jermain stays at 160.

and I'm not free on Saturdays so I can't do it :'( I really have a life now that means more to me then boxing so I can't be here often, but if I could I would. Sorry :'(
