Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
OK this is one I have always wanted to see. Talk about your big time fights....This would have been bigger than DLH/PBF IMO.....
Shane Mosley-At his prime and at the top of the P4P rankings....The power of Mosley along with his speed and ring generalship
Floyd Mayweather--His pitty pat punches that actually blind his opp and slick movement...
Who wins and why?
IMO it goes to the late rounds 10th or 11th...The first few going to Mosley while Floyd tries to get his rhytm going ALA Judah fight....Then Floyd starts to come into his own making Mosley chase him winning rds 3-8....In the ninth the speed of Mosley becomes to much for PBF to keep running and he is forced to fight at times....PBF holds his own in the 9th and part of the 10th then with his speed advantage ( which is very slight especially compared to a 135lb Mosley if there is any at all).....Floyd starts to become out gunned.....come the 11th ( At latest) Mosley starts to open up on him hard with combos and just bullies PBF to the TKO....
IMO biggest factor in this one is PBF wouldn't have the power to hurt Mosley and unlike many of Floyds past opp at 135 in 1999 Mosley was not shop worn and he was at his best...so he is not in with a guy who has seen better days or is slow as dirt ( EG Gatti at 140 past his best even though at his best he could never hang with PBF---or Baldo who is the slowest Welterweight ever)...
Just IMO what does everyone else think???
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
I think Mosley can't handle a good boxer period. Mayweather would use the jab against Mosley, and that would cause Mosley alot of trouble. I like Shane, but he was taught wrong... He never had great timing to go along with his speed, and he just seemed akward in the ring past lightweight.
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
Tough choice. If I had to pick I say Mosley on points. 115-113
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
There was a time when Mosley's power was just as devastating as his fluidity.
I'd still go with Floyd though. Floyd's chin & abilities have yet to fail him...
Floyd by 12 hard fought rounds.
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
At 135 SSM was incredible.... I would say SSM via TKO cause you gotta remember SSM has power at 135 and he was at his best.
PBF was also at his best but I just think SSM was more schooled at that time he was 135 as compared to PBF when he was at 135....
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
I hope your kidding at 135 PBF was faster than Shane by more than as a welterweight, also PBF was pretty hard puncher for a lightweight, and he as good of a jab as anyone back then to go along with a nearly perfect defensive way of fighting... If Mosley couldn't get through Forrest's jab he wouldn't be getting through PBF's. I think Floyd outboxes him with a clear decision which means by about 3-4 rounds.
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
Floyd by decision, 116-112 sounds about right.
Mosley, for all his obvious physical gifts, never developed a well-rounded style. He was always a straight ahead offensive fighter. He never used his speed and athleticism to develop a great defense. He also has a tendency to become one dimensional with straight right hands.
Mayweather would win because he is a little bit faster than Mosley, and more importantly, has the technical precision and defensive genius that Mosley lacks.
Mosley can only fight going forward, Floyd can be effective going forward or backward. He just brings more versatility to the table.
Floyd can hit Mosley and avoid getting hit that much in return, Mosley can't hit Floyd without leaving himself wide open to counters.
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
floyd by KO wahaha. nah maybe UD
power is never a factor agaisnt floyd
and floyd is almost like winky
he frustrates you all night long
SSM was spoiled by winky bigtime
and he was faster than winky by a mile
Re: Shane Mosley (Circa 1999) VS Floyd Mayweather
Very very hard fight to call IMO. At lightweight SMM was amazing, so fast and powerful. Floyd on the other hand has just such a great defence which is yet to let him down. I give a SLIGHT edge to Mosley actaully as he was so great offensively at 135.
