Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
Bored as S***, home for holidays, tried to figure out what a pound for pound list for the little guys would look like. I know most people don't care about the lower weights but some of the best fights are at these weight classes and there are some very good fighters. Two of them, Marquez and maybe Lorenzo Parra, I'd include on a regular pound for pound list. Problem is some of the Asian fighters I've either never seen or not seen much of, but I guess you have to include them. Any way, I know not many will care (actually I can think of the few that will) but here's a list. If anybody else has got some input go right ahead.
1)Rafael Marquez: Great fighter, top ten P4P on a regular P4P list, clearly the best at 118 and I think at 122 too
2)Lorenzo Parra: Another great fighter, on my regular P4P list.
3)Ivan Calderon: Maybe hasn't fought the best fighters but a great fighter, maybe top five in skills overall
4)Israel Vazquez: Really gotten better, good wins over Gonzalez and Larios
5)Jorge Arce: I'm sure some people would have him higher on this list but, whether its his fault or not, he hasn't been fighting the best lately. He could easily be as high as number 3 on this list.
6)Vic Darchinyan: Might have him a little high, but still a good fighter.
7)Masamori Tokuyama: Haven't seen him but one time, but a good fighter, wins over Navarro, Kawashima, Penalosa and Kirilov although for all I know some of those might not have been good decisions.
8)Hozumi Hasagawa: Only seen him on youtube. Looks real good though, very fast, beat Sahaprom twice
9)Eagle Kyowa: Again, haven't seen him all that much, beat Mayol who I thought was pretty good, apparently barely got by a guy who he should have handled fairly easily last time.
10)Martin Castillo: Didn't know who to put here, thought about Caballero. Don't know if he was looking past Nashiro, or if Nashiro's just that good. Good fighter though, looked great against Morel and the first Munoz fight, not so great the second Munoz fight and then lost to Nashiro so I guess this could be a reach.
Honorable Mention
Celestino Caballero
Pongsalek Wonjogknam
Roberto Vazquez
Nobuo Nashiro: I know he beat Castillo but I have a hard time putting a 9-0 guy on a P4P list, don't know if it was a fluke or not
Jose Navarro
Luis Perez
Dimitri Kirilov
Silence Mabuza
Fernando Montiel
Ricardo Cordoba
Wladimir Sidorenko
Ponce de Leon
Munoz
Jhonny Gonzalez
Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
:coolclick: Nice list.
I'd have Pongsalek Wonjogknam in the top ten & Arce just a spot higher...your'e gonna strike me down with lightening & thunder to puncuate this one...but I think Darchinyan is higly overratted.
I just aint buying it.
I think Arce would & will slay him.
Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
Seriously...good list...nice read. :appl:

CC. Nah, not gonna strike you down on Vic, I'm a bit indecisive on him to be honest. Not really sure how good he is. Still would like to see Arce-Vic though, would clear some things up.
Thing with Pongsalek is I have no fucking clue who these guys he fights are. Dude's literally 63-2 and five fights ago he fought a guy that was 5-3. And two fights before that he fought some guy that was like 12-27. That's just odd.
That and I've never seen him to be honest. But I'm sure most lists like this would have him in there.
Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
Ah, can't click you, honestly don't remember giving you a cool click in the last 24 but I guess I did.

It's an old arguement that's a very very tuff call.
He's an impressive fighter...but I seriously doubt that he'll ever leave his home court...& until he does...he'll never be taken seriously.

Definitely don't ever see him leaving home. No real reason too I guess.

Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
Speaking of Parra, is he gonna continue fighting? Last I read he wasn't sure if he was gonna continue or not....
Anybody know?
Shame really as he is very skilled.

Where did you hear that bro? I know Parra has been injured but he is schduled to fight the tough Roberto Vazquez next year I think.
I'll add my thoughts on the list later, running late!! ;D
Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
Ok,here's mine..
1.)Rafa Marquez-awesome power,in both hands but is intelligent too and picks his punches well.
2.) Ivan Calderon-amazingly skilled and if he's fighting and is in the prediction contest, guess that he will win UD and make it your joker,it never fails!! I hope he steps up soon though,he's like 31 right?
3.) Vazquez- great power, very very hard nosed, aggrsssive and relentless and just does not take no for an answer(see the Jhonny Gonzalez and Larios fights!). INcredibly determined and starting to build up an impressive resume
4.) Jorge Arce-may not have beaten A grade fighters but has beaten tough fighters, unbeaten for a long time, crowd pleasing style and hopfully will have a big fight sometmie this year.
5.) Parra-I have not seen alot of his fights but the 2 I have seen,he does everything and does it well. Not unwilling to fight you in your backyard although I think he's been injured all year right? His position will rise after I see more of his fights I guess.
Honourable mentions
Ponce De Leon
Boom Boom Bautista
Caballaro
Navarro
Monteil
Gonzalez
and some of those Jap fighters whom I have not seen many fights ut are highly regarded by experts.
Robert Vazquez too.
Re: Pound for Pound for the 122 pounders and below
CC's for El Gamo and Mick. Good list Gamo.
What's wrong with Parra, I had heard the Vazquez fight was cancelled but that was it.

Thanks bro,I owe you like 5 clicks. The last I heard was from Maxboxing saying he's slated to fight Vazquez, nothing else. Anyone know anything about his injury??
