Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
It stopped at Lennox, which is a shame because its history is quite easy to follow unlike other weights
Hopefully in the future Lennox will make an ill fated comeback to let it live on
Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
Two interesting points Ali only won the title twice. And the spinks family can fight

Well he did win it as Cassius Clay the first time, so the man himself won it 3 times! Also, it says:
Cassius Clay 1964-1970
Joe Frazier 1970-1973
In fact, Ali Frazier 1 occurred in March 1971, so the dates should be 1964-1971, and 1971-73.

Also Shannon Briggs did not hold any so called "offical" title when he was champion.

Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
I remeber seeing them both in the Oylmpics, and thinking the both are going to be very good pros but didnt think heavys. Got that one wrong.

Tis true, it would seem the list has been done Ring magazine stylee, basing on the man who beat the man etc. I could then go on the rant of how there should be one champ in each division blah blah blah but i think we all agree on that one right?

I would agree with you, had Vitali stayed retired. Having Vitali and Wladimir fighting at the same time makes it a little confusing.
Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
Shannon Briggs in that list!
One of the Klits should have gained the title too.
Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
Who has dug this old thread up?:deadnew:
Re: All the heavyweight champions from 1885!!! (lineal champions)
its all fkd up, i used to read the boxing books in the library when i was young, they had a couple page's on every champion, u could see each champion & who he beat to become the heavyweight champion & it was all in order, now u would need abt 50 books to put them all in

Thats why it is called the lineal title. The man who beat the man, the wba and others be damned!!
