Interesting Article, Pavlik-Miranda Purse Bid and Arum's Response
• MIRANDA-PAVLIK? -- If Kelly Pavlik gets past Jose Luis Zertuche, as expected, when they meet on HBO on Jan. 27 in Anaheim, Calif., Arum said he'd like to match the hard-hitting Pavlik with Edison Miranda, perhaps the only middleweight in the world who hits harder than Pavlik.
Pavlik is 29-0 with 26 knockouts. Miranda is 27-1 with 24 knockouts. The WBC has scheduled a Feb. 15 purse bid for an eliminator bout between Miranda and Pavlik for the right to meet champion Jermain Taylor.
"Just because there's a purse bid, it doesn't mean Pavlik takes the fight," Miranda promoter Leon Margules said.
But Arum, who promotes Pavlik, said he'd leap at the chance and said the sides could agree without a purse bid.
"Yes! 1,000 percent yes!" Arum said when asked if he'd be interesting in matching Pavlik and Miranda. "We definitely want the fight. If they want it, it won't be hard to get a deal."

Re: Interesting Article, Pavlik-Miranda Purse Bid and Arum's Response
Pantera ha no thoughts on this. Looks like Arum is saying he without question wants the fight. Any thoughts
Re: Interesting Article, Pavlik-Miranda Purse Bid and Arum's Response
This would be a great fight & an excellent barometer for Miranda again. Pavlik is pretty skilled & damned heavy handed. I'd love to see the two in an all out smoker.
It'd be a close one though...power for power it's tight. Skills the edge goes to the favor of Pavlik on this one.

I think Pavlik will knock him out.

Just got back from LV... haven't stayed in touch with boxing these last few days.
Very interesting! I know HBO wanted this fight to happen for Miranda next. I wonder if Pavlik's manager is ready to take it. He was the one who didn't want it last year. This fight being an eliminator should be worth the risk for him this time around.
If Pavlik wants the fight, I am sure this will happen. If not, Allan Green will get his shot. I would rather have the Pavlik fight happen though.
Re: Interesting Article, Pavlik-Miranda Purse Bid and Arum's Response
CC for the article, man. I would love to see this fight happen! I think Pavlik and Miranda are two quantities in the M.W. division that
fighters want to avoid. I'd give a bit of an edge to Pantera for going 12 rounds with the 'Smurf', but these boys are probably the
heaviest crackers in the division. I think it would be an absolute barnburner while it lasted.

And there is more hope this fight is looking good:

Pavlik - Miranda on the horizon?
By staff writer
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Middleweight's Kelly Pavlik and Edison Miranda could be on a collision course if Pavlik should be victorious this Saturday night in Anaheim, California against Jose Luis Zertuche.
The paper continued to say that potentailly explosive fight could happen sooner rather then later as Miranda's promoter Leon Margules told the paper he sees no obstacles in making the fight unless Miranda receives a multi-million dollar offer from middleweight champion Jermain Taylor.
Pavlik is 29-0 with 26 stoppages while Miranda is 27-1 with 24 knockouts.

This blurb on boxingtalk (http://www.boxingtalk.com/pag/article11055.html) says that Miranda vs. Alan Green may be a televised undercard for Cotto-Urkal.

Re: Interesting Article, Pavlik-Miranda Purse Bid and Arum's Response
Pavlik has a mean right hand a sneaky left hook. Pretty good fighter and a very astute puncher. He knows how to punch and he doesn't waste to much in doing so. But Miranda is just an absolute animal. Not all right around the edges, he's not exactly patient but the guy is one of the more intimidating fighters in the game. Pavlik is going to have to be all there mentally and not be scared of Miranda if he wants to win the fight. He has the tools to beat Miranda, and it could very well happen. But on the flipside, if Pavlik loses, he loses big in this one.
