Just got 28 fights of Ali, and...
Why are people complaining about Mayweather not going for the KO. I've seen at least 2-3 fights already where Ali is dominating his opponent, but is happy to stay on the outside and beat his opponent from afar without trying to close the show. Leonard did this as well in his fights when he couldn't hurt his opponents (Duran 2). Even Robinson when he went up to light heavyweight, and some of his fights against Lamotta he didn't attempt to KO his opponent, but rather work the jab.
Why do guys like Roy and Floyd get penalyzed by fans for winning when the greatest fighters of old have all at one point or another done the exact same thing in one fight or another. Is not dominating a world class opponent enough?

good point i dont know..... i thinkk its cuz they set that knockout standad for them selves or mayb because there in the post tyson era amean he made knockouts real popular
Re: Just got 28 fights of Ali, and...
There were guys like Foreman, Louis, Liston, Patterson, Frazier, Dempsey, Marciano who off the top of my head by KO's popular, but alot of the boxer, boxers didn't I mean Robinson taking all of his fights didn't even had a 50% ko ratio, and with just his wins he had barely an over 60% ko ratio, and Muhammad Ali had 19 out 56 wins without a ko. Willie Pep had just 69 ko's in 229 wins. Henry Armstrong had a decent ko ratio of about 66%.

I have no problem with Floyd not going for knockouts...that is obviously not his style or strength. I have a problem with Floyd fighting second rate opponents for the past few years and claiming he will be considered an all time great like an Ali. Ali got it done however he could....physically, strategically, or on sheer will and guts. In his early and prime years he was a supreme athlete and boxer...a fighter who was illogically too fast for his weight class, a fighter who had incredible reflexes, a fighter with some of the best footwork this sport has ever witnessed. In the latter stages of his career, after he was robbed of his peak years, he still possessed some of his great skills....but he relied more on his intelligence and iron will. Ali went to WAR with the Frazier's and Foreman's. He talked big outside of the ring but he almost always backed it up in the ring....he put on a show...fights that are legendary. Part of that was due to him and his skills, part of it was who he fought, part of it was the environment and drama of his fights (dethroning Liston, Foreman in Zaire or Frazier in Manila). Floyd is a gifted boxer...no doubt. But so far in his career he has done nothing that will be truly remembered....no moment where years from now people can recall with awe. Whether that's his fault or not is debatable. But Floyd at this moment is just a very talented fighter...he is no where close to being an all time great, let alone a LEGEND.
Re: Just got 28 fights of Ali, and...
Ali had to deal with guys that had some good chins.....he also never was called a power puncher whereas RJJ was a power puncher and PBF sort of was but due to hand injuries isn't anymore

PBF hasn't been a power puncher since he left lightweight, and even the the only guy he couldn't really take out was Castillo who has an awsome chin... Ali had 8oz gloves during his career so no excuses for him, and he didn't fight that many people with great chins IMO.

Once again how can you compare Mayweather to Ali who made racial comments, and said things like Frazier looked like a gorilla.
