It only makes sense. Margarito got on my good side by facing Clottey, now Williams is the next step. It's a fight a lot of boxing fans are wanting to see. It would be a litmus test for both fighters. Not to mention it has the potential to be a great fight. Aside from Tony, who doesn't want to see this fight?

I would love to see Margarito vs. Williams, I just think it ain't gonna happen.

Good read. CC for the news Wacko.
Re: WBO orders Margarito-Williams!
Remember this threadmMargarito Williams will happen but AFTER tONY cOTTO.Cotto is a more proven fighter, would have been a unification and and would be more respect for TOny too,I mean how many fighters has Tony beaten with undefeated or 1 loss on theor record? Quite a few.How much respect has he got..zilch..so fightinG COtto is the most viable and rewarding option but I GUARANTEE Tony will fight Paul if he gets by Cotto.Margarito does not want to fight March, that is the only problem.

CC bro. You know what, that's something I never considered about him not getting any points for beating other undefeated fighters. If he beat Paul then people would have said that it was nothing. If that fight never comes off though, Tony will definitely look bad.
Re: WBO orders Margarito-Williams!
i have a feeling margarito will vacate and go right ahead to a cotto fight. much more money and he would probably lose either way. willaims will then probably beat the number two guy for the vacant belt.

:coolclick: Glad somebody said it. Here's the thing...I'd rather see Margarito fight Cotto...because he'd lose & then Cotto could kick the shit outta Williams...it'd happen. ;D

Well I think that they are trying to make it seem like Margarito is avoiding Williams. Then Margarito can finally fight, and beat Williams and then they can say how great Margarito is and can go back to the ducking greatest welterweight stuff they have been doing. Sort of like what Calzaghe did with Lacy(in a way). But I won't be fooled twice ;) Williams isn';t ready for Margarito and they know it.
Re: WBO orders Margarito-Williams!
no way in hell does margarito beat williams.
williams and margarito have only one thing in common................................. theyre big welterweights.
williams is faster, hits tons harder, is a bigger fighter, and has better defence than margarito.
williams is the future of boxing, and margarito is nothing more than a glorified journeyman who is no more than 2 fights away from being exposed

Yes but Margarito could still take advantage of the things Williams needs to work on. He may be more 'everything' then Margarito but if he's still weak in some areas Margarito can take advantage of then he isn;t gonna win. There's no way a short guy like Sharmba Mitchell should get inside and fire flurries at a taller Williams like he was able to.
If Williams learns to keep his hands up, not to lean forward, to tuck his chin, and use his jab and his height a lot more often, then I'll say he can beat Margarito.
Re: WBO orders Margarito-Williams!
OK... Here it goes.....
Margarito vs. Williams wont happen. Margarito will 1st fight Cotto and loose then Williams will wan't to fight Cotto..... I just have a feeling the fight will not materialize.
Even if the WBO pushes for the fight, Margarito will relinquish the belt for a bigger showdown against Cotto....
I can't believe I just chose a winner betwen Cotto & Margarito.... :(
Re: WBO orders Margarito-Williams!
Maybe he isn't ready for Mayweather and Cotto, but Margarito he can handle I think. I just don't think Margarito is that good, or good enough to capitalize on the ticky tack mistakes that Williams makes in his defense. Most of the time he gets hit when a fighter is coming in or pulling out with slick punches that you can't really see coming. Judah and a lot of other fighters have the same problem, but Judah has other issues aswell. Margarito isn't really wild (a lot of people think he is based on the way he pounces a hurt fighter) but he does throw long punches and telegraphs them. He'll still hit Williams but he won't destroy him like he did Cintron. There are a few guys out there right now who would make Williams look stupid. But I really do not think Margarito is one of them. Just my opinion. I would love to see the fight and would predict a Williams victory in a great fight.

Now that's not fair imo. Margarito is really good. He's been 2 fights away from being exposed since he got the short end of the stick against Santos. If he really was a journeyman, Cintron and Clottey would have walked right through him. Do I think he survives against Floyd? No way. Cotto? Probably not. But he's by no means a bum.
