Gel Shock wraps for broken finger?
Hi there
New to the forum, but looking for some advice.
Has anyone tried out the Gel Shock Wraps, or Gel Shock Quickwraps? From some reviews it looks like they will not fit under boxing gloves. Does anyone know if they'll fit under bag mittens?
I broke my finger sparring some years ago and so have a sunken knuckle. I have to take it easy for fear of breaking it again. Are gel wraps the best protection?
Many thanks
Tony

Not sure if they are the best protection out their but for me they are comfortable. I only use them because its quicker than traditional wraps but you may want to research due to the knuckle injury.

Re: Gel Shock wraps for broken finger?
I broke my fifth metacarpal about 25 years ago. I also have a sunken knuckle on my right hand as a result of the injury. I just use regular handwraps and have not had a problem. Someone once told me that when the bone breaks it heals (knits) stronger than it was before because of calcium deposits. Don't know it that's true, but I can predict precipitation, especially when it's cold. Ouch!!!!
Re: Gel Shock wraps for broken finger?
Tell me about it; I have old breaks in my arm and foot to contend with too.
I'm getting negative responses on these gel shock wraps in other forums, but I am concerned about pulling out the stops when working the heavy bag.
Any other suggestions for protecting old breaks?
Re: Gel Shock wraps for broken finger?
I dont know about broken bones and using them..But i wouldnt recomend them anyway..
I have had the everlast gel wraps before and they are indeed great for padding.. But they also have other problems such as..They are very tight and it restricts your bloodflow ive taken my gloves off before cos i had numb fingers.. They dont tend to stretch after a period they kinda rip and lose tightness without fitting still..
The knuckle padding rips and tears etc..
They really arent entirely that comfortable in my honest opinion..
As far as your finger goes.. Im not sure..Just be sure your wrapping your hands properly..Throwing your punches properly and look after your hands out side of training best you can...
In all fairness it was probably a one off and may not bother you again after it heels..Everyone is different..
Good luck
