Juan Laporte: The Real "Rocky Balboa"
Juan Laporte a former World Champion from Puerto Rico. He does not have the best record in boxing, but he can say that NEVER went to the canvas in 22 years of career (1977 - 1999). With a record of 40-17 (22) Laporte faced various of the biggest names, not only of his era, but in boxing history. I am including some of these names and date of the fight.
Salvador Sanchez - Dec 13, 1980
Rocky Lockridge - Aug. 22, 1981
Eusebio Pedroza - Jan. 24, 1982
Wilfredo Gomez - Mar. 31, 1984
Julio Cesar Chavez - Dec. 12, 1986
Azumah Nelson - Oct. 13, 1990
Kostya Tszyu - Jul. 23, 1992
Do you know about any other boxers with similar type of competition and never being down?

Its a pleasure for me to be here at the forum. I was introduced by a good friend (Tito Fan) here in Puerto Rico.
That Chavez fight was a terrific and one that I always remember. I think Laporte could have some bad luck, because he made great fights with some of the greatest, but lost many of them.
