Azumah Nelson/Salvador Sanchez
In a bit of breaking news I just read that Aussie Danny Green KO'd fellow Aussie Paul Murdoch (no, I hadn't heard of him either) in the second round. Green's second outing at 175...
I just watched some old Azumah Nelson fights again - how F****** good was that little guy??
You could see he was awesome in that Sanchez fight. He was buggered going into that last round and should have tried to stay away. Instead he wades in ands starts trading with Sanchez, and was still pissed off when the ref stopped it.
His one round destruction of Pat Cowdell was one that my British friends will remember. I remember watching that as a wee laddie on Grandstand, that all day Saturday sports show. What a punch...
And how could anyone forget his destruction of Jeff Fenech? Nelson was unbelievable that day. On another note, Johnny Lewis was absolutley S*** in the corner that day for Fenech... "Don't let him hit you Jeff. This is your domain..." was one piece of quality instruction after Jeff was nearly KO'd in the 6th. But the cream has to be "when you get in close, punch the S*** out of him". Seriously, with instruction like that it's no wonder Fenech isn't much of a trainer.

Azumah Nelson is one of my all time favorites ! :coolclick: Nelson's fights with Jeff Fenech and James Leija were classics.. O0
Re: Azumah Nelson/Salvador Sanchez
Nelson would have lost the fight against Sanchez even if he would have stayed away from Sanchez for that last round. He just would have lost it by decision and not TKO....
He was VERY skilled they didn't nickname him The Professor for nothing.... By the way he was only into his 13th fight against the all time great 'Chava' and did a tremendous job at it.

Thats one of my fav. 'Chava' Sanchez fights, seen it many times.....
Also let it be mentioned that Azumah caught Sanchez with some beauty shots throughout the fight. The rugged more experienced Sanchez stood there and took the shots and just came forward throwing his punches.....
