Kelly Pavlik will put his record on the line in less than 1 week against hard hitting Jose Luis Zertuche, Zertuche is ranked 8th by the wbc i believe, and Pavlik is #2. If Pavlik stopmps this guy like the rest of his competition, how much longer can Wright and Taylor run?
Zertuche is not a significant fighter. He lost his last fight to a guy that Pavlik has already KO's. I like Pavlik, but this isn't really a setup in competition and it doesn't really prove anything. Dan Rafael is on crack to think a victory over Zertuche should earn him a shot at Taylor, Wright or Miranda.
I'd like to see him fight Ouma or Sturm. See if he gets by them. I'd also love to see him fight Duddy.
Hopefully he will win this fight, and like you said above, he should pretty easily. HBO wants to setup an elimination bout against Miranda for the right to fight Taylor.
Both guys need this type of fight to prove to Dibella that they are worthy opponents to fight his protected money bag.
I just hope Pavlik's people take the fight. There are not many other options for either guy.
