Footwork
I am a new boxer, 23yrs old, 6ft 4ins tall, 14 stone so obviously tall and rangy, and a southpaw..
I have been training for about 6 months now, started with bag work and skipping.. moving on to pads, and now light sparring..
I am aiming to begin fighting amateur level locally this year, seem to be struggling with the footwork of it all, need some tips really to help me on my way as the more experienced lads seem to make it look easy, whereas i seem to find it awkward moving around the ring and bags..
over to you...
also, any general tips to improve me on from where I am so that I can reach the level of the other lads in the gym..

Re: Footwork
Keep practicing and training... ;) It'll come.
I take it you have a trainer who can show you correct stance and footwork? Just keep listening to him... :)

Re: Footwork
Footwork! That's the ticket! Honestly. If you want to pick it up quickly you need a partner. You do this with your shadow boxing. Shadow boxing with a partner allows you to move. You and your partner respond to each others body languade....like a dance. I tell then to over emphasize when doing it together, but this produces some pretty fast movers.
