George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
Shannon Briggs is currentley a Heavyweight champion. Now watch this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTWYdm7bsek
This fight was fixed from the start. Possible ways this happened:
a. They hire Foreman (age 50 in this fight, yes 50) and tell him not to bother train hard either.
b. They tell Foreman to go easy on Biggs and hand Foreman some money before the fight.
c. Shannon Biggs actually won this fight fair and square like a true champ. ::**
d. The officials were bought so this fight went to Biggs anyway.

What do you lot think? Biggs is rubbish man!
Re: George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
Briggs is no champ in my eyes, but he won the fight fair and square. Against a younger Foreman and it would be a different story. Of the options I would have to go with C
What does Biggs have to do with this anyway? ;D :-*
Re: George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
Doesn't it sound odd fighting a 50 year old man?
Is Biggs going to be involved in some unsound boxing business in the future?
Come on, he has no real talent, he won't last long as Champ so it would make
sense to make money outta him by taking a drive/loss.
Re: George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
yep foreman was robbed in this one for sure they were even doing investigation on the decision so that should tell you something

Fighting a 50 year old man is out of the ordinary thats for sure....the fight was relatively close but Briggs was able to move and outland Foreman...the result itself means nothing to me anyways...
With Briggs its not so much about talent as being so big these days and being unable to throw any punches for a majority of the round...he will be out of the picture in a couple of fights...

You may well be right, Im speaking from distant memory only. It isnt a fight Ive seen in a long while. Not one I fancy watching again to be honest! ;D
Actually, Its one that I should watch again...my memory seems warped!
Re: George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
New Jersey State Athletic Control Board commissioner Larry Hazzard acknowledged the widespread criticism of the decision in this bout in a 1998 interview, and, referring to his selection of judges, admitted that he "would've done it differently" if he had the opportunity to make the selection again. He explained that he had wanted to give the relatively inexperienced judges Larry Layton and Calvin Claxton "some exposure" by assigning them to work a high-profile fight, but said: "If I had it to do over again, forget it. I'd just wait [to give them exposure]....I guess it was one of those fights most people thought Foreman would win, and a fight most people didn't think would be that difficult to score. And heavyweights are easier to score. This ain't gonna be a big deal. Boy, was it a big deal! Everyone thought Foreman had won. "

I think so, Briggs is now too big and can barely throw a dozen punches per round! He has spent a long time in the wilderness fighting bums. He will be back there soon...
Thanks for that link btw, I have been quoting only from long term memory and after Ice suggesting I might be wrong I clicked on it. Briggs won the end of that fight clearly, but the rest of it im less certain of now.

:coolclick: Haven't seen this in a long time. Foreman at 50 was ripped off for this fight. They were apparently trying to send Foreman a message and get him out of boxing.
Re: George Foreman L12 Shannon Briggs
Briggs made a better account of himself against Lewis then Foreman would have
