I thought I'd use this quote just to give a sample of what I'd be addressing in this.
Everybody talks about Raheem's fight with Freitas being his "chance" and how he lost it.
You tell me, is that any reason to take him off TV to have him fight once a year after that?  To try to have him dissapear off the boxing map?
Last I checked that fight was a Split Decision.
Now if people like Emanuel Augustus and Courtney Burton have a rematch on ESPN despite how Burton had been looking lately.
You mean to tell me that Zahir Raheem doesn't deserve to be on TV anymore?  Or that he isn't a major player in the Lightweight division?
If he has a closer fight with Freitas then Casamayor(and it was a fight that could have gone either way)  why hasn't a rematch happened?
It wasn't one sided, and both fighters gave each other trouble.
Blame Raheem for holding but blame Freitas too.
I haven't seen that fight more then once but didn't Raheem at a point get so frustrated with Freitas's holding that he threw him to the ground ???
So all the blame can't fall on Raheem's shoulders for that.
And how are you going to call Raheem a one fight wonder if he's only fought Freitas and Morales.  Who BOTH have spent their time on p4p lists.
And I watch Jermain Taylor get excuse after excuse after excuse for how he's looked against Wright.
But people say "Nobody looks good against Wright."
Well Casamayor didn't even look good against Freitas(thats my opinion)
And to my knowledge no one has looked good against Freitas, even Corrales who stopped him didn't look good until the stoppage(again my opinion)
Freitas is in the upper echulants of the fighters in the Lightweight division he's first class.
And Raheem came in there and he hung tough with him and lost a very CLOSE SD.
But nobody wants to give him a chance and I'm shocked at some of the boxing fans here shunning Raheem after that as if he didn't deserve a second chance ???
Why be "selective" when a fighter looks bad?
I suppose you think that Morales deserved his rematch with Pacquiao after "looking bad" in the Raheem fight.
Or that Judah deserved his shot at Mayweather.  I'm sure a lot less of you people think that, because I don't know of very many Zab Judah fans.
Roy Jones gets knocked out TWICE and gets a shot at Tarver again ???
I suppose thats completely correct for fighters to get shots at those huge huge fights after losing in a one sided fashion against someone who they were supposed to beat easily right ???
And it wasn't his chance against Freitas, it's not like Arum wanted to give him it, the WBO was pressuring Bob Arum(I remember seeing this on boxingtalk a while ago) to get a title shot.
So it was mandatory that Arum do this otherwise I can almost bet you that Raheem wouldn't get a shot anytime soon.
There are other champions out there who Raheem could beat and he's inactive for 9 months and comes back against a 23-34 guy off TV?  Are you telling me he deserves that?
Tarver gets beat by Glen Johnson on a SD and he gets another shot at him.
And Tarver isn't even that exciting compared to Raheem he isnt.
People celebrated Tarver's loss, but he still gets an INSTANT rematch with Johnson.
And he's not a one fight wonder, he gave Freitas a fight too.
It wasn't like he was dominated at all.  He wasn't dominated, he wasn't down, he wasn't hurt and it was a very close fight, a split decision.
Since then Freitas has vacated his wbo championship and retired, only to come back to fight either Joel Casamayor or David Diaz(both are champions at Lightweight)
So why can't Raheem get the person who Freitas doesn't fight ???
Youi can say "Raheem isn't a big attraction, or a money fighter"
SO WHAT!?!?!?  That DOESN'T mean he doesn't deserve his shot. 
I thought you got your shot on skill and not on how you look in the ring.
And if you think that Raheem should get a shot only on whether he's exciting and not on his victories then how can you justify that ???
So many other fans will defend a fighter to the brink on how they deserve a shot at a big money fight when nobody outside of that fan has heard of him.
So what if you believe or don't believe Raheem is exciting, he gets the job done.
And you put Raheem in there against David Diaz, or against Julio Diaz, you'll see Raheem look spectacular again.
Why?  Because their style compliments him.
Freitas's style didn't because he is trying to be some sort of slick boxer puncher(when he isn't)
Freitas' style had a lot to do with Raheem not looking as good that night.
Prior to the Freitas fight I never saw Raheem hold or get into those clinches, and Freitas has a lot to blame for that as well as Raheem.
So if you split the blame NEITHER fighter looked impressive.
You say Raheem looked bad, do you think Freitas looked spectacular?
No, it was Raheems fault for holding. What about Freitas' holding?
So why is Freitas getting a shot at potentially two world championships and Raheem fighting off TV against fighters with 23-32 ??? 
So many other fans will defend a fighter to the brink on how they deserve a shot at a big money fight when nobody outside of that fan has heard of him.
you can say all you want to that Raheem's "chance" was against Freitas and he lost. 
But it's hard to say that he isn't getting done dirty by Top Rank.

I agree with you, unfortunately the world of boxing on TV and the promoters only hear dollar signs.
Raheem doesn't have the draw, to line their deep pockets.
I like Raheem a lot, He should definately be getting better fights,
But the powers that be are fickle beings, and don't care about right and wrong, just profit.

Since when has boxing been about right or wrong? It's always been a cutt-throat sport. And Raheem knew that going in. Plus why is it so wrong if people don't want to see him fight? The guys boring. If the people don't like him. Than they don't like him. He shouldn't be forced down people throats.

The fight with Morales was a bit exciting at times but I agree 100% All those people he named are marquee guys who can afford to lose and still be money. Zahir Raheem has the tools to be a slick boxer who is actually fun to watch. And I haven't heard him calling out anybody. I don't care how many times ou get the shaft, if you've been on HBO twice within the past two years with only one loss, you can ALWAYS get a better fight then a guy with 22 losses. He obviously just didn't work hard enough to get it.

A lot of shit! in boxing ain't right but you gotta push forward and not let yourself be pushed back into the back burner. If you see shit! starting to wrong then start making some noise go on boxing sites and let the people know....
Look at Peter it appeared that he was gonna get the short end of the stick but ever since that Open letter written to Vitali that Duva wrote all that talk seems to have settled down.....
Margarito was getting and got the short end of the stick while Zab was champ, while Baldomir was champ. and PBF he started making noise walked up to PBF with camera in hand and all proved his point.....
Zahir got a shot at a title against a really good caliber opponent, what happend next is only his fault.... Nobody elses.....
