Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Finally...Wacko's back in the game after far to long of a hiatus...
I present to you...once again another installment of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show!
Once again...it's on.
Saturday March the 3rd, should be the shoot out of all shoot outs as the card is loaded with Super Stars & full blown knockout artists!
It's time to pack our bags boys & girls as we load up to follow HBO all the way to Puerto for a few rounds of World Championship Boxing!
For many boxing fans this could be sorted out as a mega-card seeing as both the main event & undercard offers pounds of explosive action.
First up the undercard, if one actually wants to insult it by calling it what it is in appearance, is the return of hard hitting crowd pleaser Edison Miranda (27 wins, 1 loss, & 24 ko's) as he moves up in weight to take on heavy handed prospect Allan Green (23 wins, 0 losses, & 16 ko's) in a ten-round super middleweight fight.
After totally destroying Willie Gibbs in a vicious first round knockout last December on "Boxing After Dark", Miranda has set the bar rather high for himself. Fans are begining to lable Miranda as the dark horse of the middle weight division. Many say that he's the hardest-hitting fighter pound-for-pound from 160lbs to 175lbs & that he could easily rule all of the above with his show stopping, jaw dropping power. Out of his 24 stoppages, seventeen of them came in the first round & that my friends is damned impressive. The question will now be: Can he do the same thing in the super middleweight division? Can he rock & shock all the rest?
Saturday night will be a good barometer for Miranda's pressure and future place among the elite fighters of 160lbs to 175lbs. Personally, I'd rather see him stay at 160lbs than move up to 175lbs...there's plenty to do at 160 & 168.
As for the evening's main event, welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (28 fights with 0 losses & 23 ko's) faces off against Oktay Urkal (38 wins with 3 losses & 12 ko's) in what I expect to be a short and brutual attempt at a 12 round welterweight title defence. In December 2006, Cotto's Welterweight debut Cotto pretty much destroyed the highly regarded & undefeated prospect Carlos Quintana. Quintana was looked on as a fast rising star, but Cotto outshined him for the duration of the match.
If Cotto can pull out all the stops again there are a handful of possible mega-fights on the horizon such as a match against Judah or Margarito.
Standing in the way of Cotto's stardom is Germany's Oktay Urkal. Urkal is a savy 11 year veteran with a pedigree that just fell short against some of the best light welters of the game. Urkal lost to Kostya Tszyu & Vivian Harris, no shame in that...but if he falls under Cotto's fist...he might lose all credibility.
Things have finally slowed a bit on my end...so I should be back in business soon.
I've missed you guys...so let's break out the chips & salsa & your poison of choice on this one...once again...it's fight night on HBO's World Championship Boxing!
Cheers & koneecheewah bitches!
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show

I would never leave my people or this place...but my free time has been...unfree of late due to an illness in my family & all the biz that goes along with it has been very VERY detrimental to Wacko's boxing time & forum duties...but I am...as I said...partially back in the game.
You know I gotta spread the love...even if it's spread thin.
Glad to see your'e still in the joint.
Who you pickin & how?

First things first...... my best to you and your family. I hope everything gets resolved and back to normal for you.
As to who I'm picking, I've got both Cotto and Miranda by KO. Hardly "going out on a limb", but hey..... gotta pick 'em like I see 'em.
;D

Miranda will catch him...but I think that it'll be late & I think that he'll show out for a bit until Edison clocks him. Miranda can be outboxed. It's been done before by Abraham...no matter what anyone says.
Miranda is limited in skill...but he makes up for a lot of it in power & pure aggression.

Thanks doggy. Everything should work itself out after a few more weeks...I'm just spread a little thin.
Agreed on the picks. I'll be shocked as shit if they come out the other way.

All is getting better. I missed this place as much as it seems to have missed me...but as I said...I've been looking forward to actually getting to chat with my people & cover a match again...finally.

Yeah but Green is a better boxer and he hits harder then Abraham imo. He has knockouts at Light Heavyweight and Super Middleweight, he can crack with the best of them. And Miranda hasn't been hit as hard as Green can and will hit him(the same can be said of Green) but Green has a good boxing style and can outbox Miranda, and who's to say that Miranda will have the enough in him to catch Green late if Green has the power to hurt Miranda it will be a very interesting fight..
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Sho
I feel green has defence issues personally.. And has had a hard time in recent fights with lesser opposition then miranda..
Certainly not a long shot for green.. A truely great prospect..But we are going to see really how tough green is when they get it on..
Peace

Agreed...but I honestly believe that Miranda hits as hard as most of the top 175'ers & I'm more for boxing skills than power...but Miranda has me convinced that he can change the fight with just one shot.
I'd love to see him tested & even dropped...but in the end I think that Green is a hype machine waiting on a breakdown.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: The Cotto & Miranda Show
Wow these fights are already happening? Man...
Anyways...Miranda KO. I'm pretty sure on that one, as sure as I can be. Miranda isn't all that good in terms of pure boxing ability, but Green has lapses in defense. I think Miranda dominates and knocks him out inside of 6.

So could Miranda be. When they compared him to Julian Jackson....

The last 2 he's looked bad against were boxers right, people that move and have upper body movement and give you tons of different angles.
Miranda does neither imo.

Exactly. I want to see how well Green will handle the pressure. Lesser men have gone the distance with Green...I think that Miranda will have more chin & power than Green at the end of the night.

:coolclick: Agreed.
The power is the one thing that seperates them @ the end of the night.
