Oscar dela Hoya could become one of the greats due to his impact and relevance on modern boxing scene. so imo, defeating oscar is a good resume for mayweather. maybe another victory against cotto or mosley will make him one.Quote:

If he pummels, punishes, and/or Ko's Oscar then I agree. It would make hard not to at least consider him for the ATG list.
If he wins by decision after dancing around like a queer....Then he belongs on "Dances with the stars"
beating oscar now isn't the same as beating oscar 5 or 6 years ago. it doesn't mean as much.
when tito got a victory of oscar it was a big deal. when shane beat oscar it was a big deal. it would still be a good win but with oscar inactivity it take away from the it alittle bit. atleast my for me anyway.
well it will tell us if he cud have competed with your leoards and hearns's cos oscar brings power to the table and has a good jab so mayweather will have alot of problems i think so lets wait and see
He is ALREADY considered an ATG.He has doing almost everything that a boxer can do.Great Amateur career-Olympic Medalist-Dominated all opponents,etc...After he beats DLH...I think that he is gonna take on Hatton(he is gonna dominate him also). But Mosley...come on!He got a clinic put on him by Winky twice!Cotto...he is just not on PBF's level. No one on here can honestly tell me that Cotto and all of those other welters can beat PBF.Its just not realistic
He might be considered an all time great by you...but in REALITY....he is no where close.Quote:

then Margarito goes out and puts on a poor showing against Clottey, Cotto beats Carlos Quintana on the same card, and EVERY (except el gamo) Margarito fan jumps over to the Cotto bandwagon
i just wanna know where these "fans" are gonna go after Paul Williams walks through Antonio Margarito, and Zab Judah butchers Miguel Cotto
Zhubin have you ever boxed a day in your life? For you to say that he is not great...your just a PBF hater. And Bird...the fact that people THINK that he is an ass has nothing to do with his boxing skills?People hate Allen Iverson,Terrell Owens,etc...it doesnt mean that they aren't great players! It seems that PBF has to beat DLH,Hatton,Margo,Cotto,Mosley,P.Williams, and who ever else calls him out in order for you to give him a little credit.I'd like to see Cotto vs Mosley...and then the winner take on PBF.I simply wasnt impressed with the Cotto/Malignaggi fight.
what are you talkin about pal? floyd is awesome yeah and i didnt say he wasnt. but he hasnt faught anywhere near the best opposition in my book to be considered an all time great (a lot agree with me). all i said is that he will be remembered as an arsehole. he will. he's an arogant, disrespectful, cocky fighter with very good skills but i'll personally remember him more for being a dick than being a great fighter. if he fights some better opposition and has some more memorable fighters then i may change my mind and he's doin that a bit by fighting de la hoya.Quote:

I have simply stated that he has not fought anywhere close the level of competition UP TO NOW...to be even close to being considered one of the sports all time greats.Quote:

Beating Oscar will mean alot...period. It has when other fighters beat him...thing is...it will depend on how Floyd beats him, if he does...but no matter what...he will not be respected for it.
Floyd handled some of the better fighters of our generation when he defeated Castillo, Hernandez, Chavez, & Corrales. Whether or not I like them outside of the ropes...I can clearly acknowledge their accomplishments inside of them.
Funny thing is...the above name fighters often recieve loads of praise & support...until you bring Floyd's name into the equation...then there is always something derogatory to be said about them & then it filters down to Floyd.
It's really stupid.
If Floyd had an attitude that appealed to the masses...say he acted like Oscar, Mosley, Taylor, or any of the other nice guys...he would be respected & recieve accolades in bunches.
If he colored inside of the lines so to speak...he would be loved. PERIOD.
That's a fact.
Wacko, i will give Floyd respect if he beats Oscar. I just have to disagree when you say he has defeated some of the best fighters of our generation...to say that is stretching it is an understatement. I have plenty of respect for Floyd's skills. I just don't have a lot of respect for his level of opposition. We just disagree on that point.
