EXCLUSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!Hopkins next for Calzaghe in the USA!!!

Was talking to Enzo Calzaghe on Sunday and I got to say he is crazier than a box of frogs.He is as nice a bloke you can hope to meet.Totaly different to the way he comes across on tv.

He was a bit hugover and said him and Joe were on the piss Saturday night at a charity function.
I asked him how Joes weight was and he said there have been a few ups and downs but its ok.
I tried to get a prediction out of him for the upcoming fight with Manfrado and he said the only thing he does not bet on are Joes fights and the Italian football team.

I could not belive how totally open he was about things.he said Joes next fight was going to be Hopkins if the money was right.He said they wanted about 4 million,did not say if this was pounds or dollars.Said Calzaghe was not interested in fighting Tarver or Taylor.

Im glad there is no history between Hopkins and Calzaghe where money is concerned, might throw a spanner in the works.

It is, at best, a hopeful prospect for Calzaghe. Hopkins is fighting Wright in July, who knows what will happen. Win or lose, he should retire, though if he convincingly beats Winky noone could really deny that he and Calzaghe would be huge.. But like I say, it's just a wish imo... Hopkins has enough to get by with Wright already, and even if he does win that and decide to fight on there's always the money which has stopped these guys from fighting before like Memphis says. This is really a fight that can't be taken seriously until it's on paper.

I will believe it when they both are in the ring together. There has been so much talk lately of Joe C. vs Bhop, RJJ, Taylor, Tarver, I wont believe a thing till they are in the ring.

It wont happen in a million years.

Even if it did, who cares? let's honest - it would be lousy.

At this point even IF the fight comes off, Joe wont get any credit IF he won. Beating a guy that came out of a short retirement to fight. Not that it will actually happen.

I think perhaps Joe would be cagey and wouldn't commit wheras Bernard would be sneaking round the outside attacking and clinching.

I dont see a huge punch-up occuring at any point.

I dont see a huge punch-up occuring at any point.

Well considering this would be the mega fight of Calzaghes career, you'd think he should commit, or at least know that he would have to in order to win.. He's not going to beat Hopkins by fighting like him, tactically from the outside.. he'd need to be busy and try and work on the inside. I could see a Hopkins win being boring if indeed Joe doesn't commit.. But I think Calzaghe could make Hopkins fight at this point in his career, and he'd certainly have to try..

I think that Calzaghe woulnd't even try to fight it from the outside if they did get it together in the ring, he's at his best when he's harassing fighters and throwing punches from all angles. I can't imagine him being cagey unless he's 10 rounds up with two to go, and then I might suggest he's entitled to.

Yea thats what Id expect/hope for... Hopkins has also been in his element against just that sort of fighter as well, plus Joes a southpaw. I think Calzaghe could beat Hopkins and set a pace that would be a bit much if it went the distance, but at the same time a southpaw who stays busy, comes forward and throws alot of punches, leaves Hopkins with a lot of oppourunities to do what he does best as well... I think it'd be a great matchup personally.

I'll believe it when I see it. And JC would beat Hopkins ass at this point in their careers. Whether you like JC or not,his style is a nightmare for anyone! Geart stamina,strong,southpaw,throws punches from all sorts of angles,great movement etc.

Did you ask him if he or Joe are aware of the response to him fighting Manfredo?
