Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
"Wladimir has trouble with taller fighters"
When the fuck has Wlad had trouble with a guy that's "tall"??? I figure tall would mean 6'5 and up.
Here are the losses and heights in Wlad's career
Lamon Brewster 6'0....tall for a welterweight but not a heavyweight
Corrie Sanders 6'4.....height did not play a factor in this loss the trouble came from Sanders being a southpaw power puncher
Ross Purrity 6'3.....once again height didn't play a factor in this loss, it was more Purrity's ability to absorb punishment
Ray Austin and his trainer are out of their freaking minds when they make statements about Wlad and having trouble with tall fighters.....here are some tall fighters Wlad has fought and knocked out.
Jameel McCline 6'6 TKO 10
Derrick Jefferson 6'6 TKO 2
Paea Wolfgramm 6'5 KO 1
Danell Nichelson 6'4 TKO 4
Granted they might not be as good as Austin but then again Austin ain't great I compare him to the version of McCline Wladimir fought maybe a little less scared though.
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
I think they will realize they underestimated Wlad ,by then it will be too late. The first rule of boxing is underestimate no man.
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
Eh, I mean 2 of 3 losses to guys over 6'2. And I would definitely consider that tall. I think they're just putting it out there. I think it would be interesting if Ray tried to fight tall and used a lot of side to side head movement though to try to avoid the straight punches of Wlad and counter from there. Problem with that, is Wlad can hook off the jab with the best of them.
But if he does try to fight tall it will prove interesting imo.
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
I have a feeling Austin is going to try to come out fast and try to gain some respect from Wladimir before Wlad can get into a rythm.I think it will be a very entertaining fight while it lasts. :)

:coolclick:# 149 that would be the right strategy... a fast start is the key for Austin.. a full out bum rush, try and catch Wlad before he warms up, it could easily happen early , even if Austin does not get the early knockout he might be able to do enough damage to put Wlad is a dazed slump, which could make Wlad less effective throughout the course of the match , However if Austin just comes out scared or shows too much respect and allows Wlad to settles in , an set the pace , it's easy pickings for Wlad . Wlad's jab and str8 right hand are very accurate. The right hand in particular is dynamite , comes off fast and very strong !
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
Austin should go to the body early, going to the body is effective against Wladimer.
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
I have a good feeling Austin will KO Wlad in the middle rounds. I dont know why but I feel like Austin knows what he has to do to beat Wlad and i think hell get the job done. Ray Austin is usually an underdog and usually makes for harder fights than expected.

yeah Ray is a bit awkward when he throws his shots, could happen ! will be interesting to see !
However Austin is a bit clumsy , if that’s the right word? Sometimes he just stands there to be hit ? .. Not a good trait to have when you fighting Wlad . O0
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
Yeah I don't know if he's so much awkward as much as he is....well there is no right word for it. When he isn't active and he's trying to pick his spots he just stands thee. Instead of moving. You can see he is always trying for something he just never does it.

LMFAO.. I am dumbfounded ! strange fellow Austin , you really never know? I think its his balance also that makes him awkward or whatever you call it?? ;D , He has a bit of a drunken gate at times?

Lol, cc lords and amat it's funny to hear you guys trying to describe Ray Austin.
I had to google Ray Austin to make sure it was the same guy I was thinking of; it was. I can't believe he is fighting Wlad. It's funny when I googled him I came across this description in wikipedia: "a large, clumsy heavyweight with little power"
I agree with clumsy and awkward....I'm sure we could add "not particulary skilled" in there ;D. I only saw him fight Ibragimov, and even though I didnt know who Austin was at the time I found myself rooting for him to win. I think it started out because I felt kind of bad for him, but then he ended up drawing. There is something likable about his big, clumsy ways...
I'd really like to see him pull and upset and beat Wlad. That would be crazy! Hopefully Wlad will be used to fighting "better" boxers and be thrown off by Austins very "unorthodox" style!
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
Ray Austin is like a HW Carlos Maussa. He's also a bit chinny too. Really he should not be fighting for any world title. He does have a lot of heart and some power so he could make things interesting. As overrated as Wladimir is, I'd be stunned if Austin beat him. He just is not that skilled, and he's gettin old.
Re: Are Ray Austin and his trainer dilusional?
I don't know much about ray so I'm pretty much judging him by the ibragimov fight . I don't want to sound like wlad is the next comming of jesus, cause he ain't, but I give ray little chance of beating wlad. I don't think he has enough power to damage wlad even with his "glassy" chin, and wlad's stamina prob seems to be taken care of so that shouldn't be an issue. I say wlad by ko within 8 rounds, Ibragimov put ray down in the 4th, jeah he got up and fought ibragimov to a draw, but wlad's more skilled and I also think more powerful than ibragimov.

I don't know if I agree with that either....I mean it would be good if he bum rushes and goes to the body to move Wlad's guard but he has never been consistently hurt to the body.
Ray might have an idea about what he's going to do but actually DOING IT is a different story. McCline had an idea but once he saw how big Wlad was and felt his jab then he clammed up right away.
I expect Austin to come out, try to jab, it won't work, he'll throw one punch at a time and Wlad will blast him out of there by the middle rounds 4-6
