Got my first proper BJJ lesson next week
Should be fun. Some guys from our dojo have gone to a couple of BJJ classes before in another town and rolled a few times before but this is my first proper lesson in the town where i live. Just fancy seeing what else it has to offer on the ground.
Its going to be interesting to see how things pan out and what level of BJJers he will put me in to roll with. Our dojo concetrate 60% standup and 40% on the ground. These chaps concentrate 100% on the ground so it could be fun. I do love ippon submissions and strangles are my favourite, hence i am really looking forward to it.

There's a vale tudo place near me, I'm looking to check that out soon. Looks fun - they have a cage. http://www.gladiatormma.co.uk/index.html
My old place has BJJ but too much water under the bridge for me to go back.
let us know how it goes.

hope you enjoy it Munky. I've been hooked ever since the first time I got triangled...I can't stand going much more than a week without hitting the mat...good luck

The mind plays funny tricks. I read this thread title the first time and saw..."Got my first proper BJ next week".

Lol looks good missy. Looks like they have a decent enough setup. Its Ross Pointons place isnt it? I love the artistic interpretation of pointons achievements, made me laugh quite a bit
UK Mixed martial arts world champion (wtf?), also all that other stuff about being BJJ champion in Britain and Europe (i dont know what level he is..definitely not purple. although i could be wrong). Also point to note in TUF he got to the semis by default and bisping KOed him in round 1 (if memory serves me correct), also all his UFC outing have ended in defeat. Gotta love the guy though...he is definitely a gladiator and just wants to fight. Also carriues some huge bombs in his fists. Fantastic attitude aswell.
Well worth a look.
Let us know what happens.
edit: just seen that he is a blue belt BJJ and looks like he trains at Gracie Barra...wonder if he started in BJJ after his outing in TUF3.
