Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
Just read that Gatti may be fighting "Irish" John Duddy later this year. Another whop vs mick battle ;D I think Gatti really hates the Irish. Kidding aside, I never even thought about this matchup but now that someone brought it up, it looks like a great matchup. They are both in your face type fighters, I dont know alot about Duddy, besides the fact he recently won a decision over Yori Boy Campos.I also noticed Duddy is ranked as middleweight, so Im think this would be at light middleweight. Anyone else interested in seeing this?
Edit: the article didnt say the fight was in the works, I misread it...oops

To be honest as long as the other guy is able to stand and has two fists to punch with I would always favour them over Gatti. Gatti will lose his next fight anyway and will then either retire or meet Erik Morales at 140 lb, probably the only current professional who would be a fair fight for the overcooked Gatti.
As for Duddy, he has to get past the world's greatest dad first! I know Bonsante doesn't really have a hope in hell but I'll be screaming from the rafters for him to win that fight.
The guy is a hero of mine, single dad, works the night shift at Walmart to support his family and boxes to give them a chance of a better life.
He will probably be retired by his corner after 6 rounds but I really hope he can stun everyone and pull of the upset. Plus he's boxing at the Garden, in the main event on PPV!
Good luck to him I say.

Gatti will be moving up to high. It will be a nice slugfest while it lasts, but it wont lasts to long. Duddy will have to much power, height, reach, etc... for Gatti. If Gatti wants to retire with a win this is not the fight to do it with.

If Gatti wanted to retire with a win he shouldn't have fought Baldimor. He's losing for certain now unless they find him a nice tomato can.
Maybe they can bring Micky Ward out of retirement?
Re: Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
I wouldnt want to fight someone that worked at Wal-Mart. You know they're pissed, and got nothin to lose, dangerous fighter.

Are you going to be at the fight?
Bonsante is hopefully overmatched. Say what you want about Duddy, I think people come down on him to much because he's being marketed as a white hope. He's a good fighter, very powerful, accurate puncher who throws in combination. Not the fastest, not the best footwork and not the hardest to hit but he's such an explosive fighter, he's a bit underrated imo.
I like Bonsante but the guy just isn't that good. He could be a gate keeper if he wanted, but he can't hang with some of the better fights. Especially the dynamite ones like Duddy.

I completely agree with you that Bonsante has no chance, it's just I'd love him to win. He's a pretty good boxer as long as there isn't much coming back.
Duddy struggled against Campas so I'm going to hold onto that!
I'm in the UK so wont' be at the fight. After I've won the lottery though I'll be there for all the fights!
Re: Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
John Duddy (or any middleweight) has as much chance of being Gatti's next opponent as I do.

;D You would think it wouldn't take that long to be pointed out....
Re: Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
Last time gatti went up, he got smashed by oscar. mind you, I watched live the fight between gatti and millet, and I had the same mindset b4 that fight..
Re: Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
Its just speculation, Gatti would have to come in around 155, because thats the lowest weight Duddy has fought at and that was when he was starting out. The article was not saying the fight was in the works, but who knows, do you think Gatti would come back at welterweight, or light middle?
Re: Gatti Vs Duddy (might happen)
Bonsante shouldn't be counted out
