Dream Card...you pick the winners and why...
A post a little while back made me think this would be interesting. I came up with a dream-bout boxing card using fighters throughout history. Anyone who is interested, fill in who they think would win in the bouts listed or make their own card; listing who wins, how and why. All fighters should be considered to be in their primes.
Venue............................Madison Square Garden
Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Louis (heavyweight) Ali by close split decision. His range and height allow him to outpoint the Brown Bomber.
Tyson vs. Rocky Marciano (heavyweight) A firefight that is decided by the first big punch that lands. Two trains colliding and it is a toss up who takes the heavier damage. Marciano wins by KO late in the fourth.
Joe Frazier vs. Jack Dempsey (heavyweight) Frazier's relentless bobbing and weaving into position to fire his lethal hooks proves too much for the smaller Dempsey. Frazier by TKO in the 10th.
Evander Holyfield vs. Sam Langford (cruiserweight) A ridiculous battle that has both men tasting canvas. In the end, I say Langford takes a close decision. He is too seasoned, and his relentless and powerful offense keeps Holyfield at bay and on the defensive. The Real Deal gets his licks in but loses a SD.
Jack Johnson vs. Archie Moore (heavyweight) or cruiser) A great stylistic fight. Archie Moore pulls off the upset, out maneuvering, countering, slipping and out boxing Johnson to a unanimous decision.
Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Aaron Pryor (at junior welterweight) Ray Leonard is knocked down twice but manages to dance, flurry and box his way to a close but majority decision.
Roberto Duran vs Oscar Delahoya (at lightweight) Prime Duran gives Golden Boy a beating at lightweight. Oscar who has a big height advantage tries to stand his ground in the fight, making the same mistake that Sugar Ray made the first time around. Duran by unanimous decision. Oscar does not walk away looking like the pretty "matinee idol" as Larry Merchant loves to refer to him as.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (middle) Hopkins' ability to turn a negative into a positive becomes evident once again. He uses the Hagler's size and southpaw style to his advantage and boxes smart to win a decision over the Marvelous One.
Roy Jones Jr. vs. Sugar Ray Robinson (at middle or supermiddle) Sugar Ray Robinson proves why he is the greatest fighter that ever lived, even at Jones' lightning fast prime, Robinson is still good enough timing-wise and speed-wise to catch him clean a la Tarver and Johnson's KOs over Roy in his later days as a light heavy. Sugar Ray Robinson by 12th round KO.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Willie Pep (featherweight) Will-o-the-wisp is too much movement for the straight ahead barreling PacMan onslaught and although Pac is able to drop him once or twice, Pep wins a clear cut decision over the Philipino icon. Willie Pep by unanimous decision.
Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Julio Cesar Chavez (at super featherweight) The great Chavez goes right to Barrera's body with hooks and engages The Baby Faced Assassin in a war from the start. Barrera puts up a great fight for ten rounds but is eventually outworked and knocked out by the Mexican legend.
Hammerin Hank Armstrong vs. Pernell Whitaker (at lightweight) Whitaker's uncanny defensive skills and left handed style cancel out against Armstrong's unbelievable offensive attacks. An extremely entertaining fight that ends in a draw.
George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston (heavyweight) George Foreman by 5th round KO. The bigger, rangier Olympic champ puts the big hurt on Liston and stops him cold in less than it took young Cassius Clay to do it.
Larry Holmes vs. Jersey Joe Walcott (heavyweight) Another ridiculously cool style match up. A back and forth strategic slugfest with great movement; slips, parries and counters. Larry Holmes takes the split decision victory by a hair.
Bob Fitzsimmons vs. James "Lights-Out" Toney (at super middleweight) Fitzsimmons is the harder puncher and has great stamina but Toney makes him look foolish, confusing him with his movement and slips in enough counter punches to pull off a unanimous decision win.
Felix Trinidad vs Tommy Hearns (welterweight) Hearns'reach and movement give him the opportunity to land his big right hand and the length to stay away from Trinidad's lethal left hook. Tommy does not make the mistake of standing in front of Felix; he works the jab, circles right and unleashes that supernatural right cross again and again, finally catching Trinidad clean in the 10th and ending the night. Thomas "The Hit Man" Hearns by 10th round KO.

Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis it would be similar to Conn vs Louis with Ali being to quick but only difference is Ali wouldnt be stopped and would win comfortable ud
Tyson vs. Rocky Marciano i respect Marciano alot but Tyson would be too quick and too big for Marciano in weight size and Marciano would be stopped on cut stoppage in middle rounds
Joe Frazier vs. Jack Dempsey again Fraizer too big for Dempsey in weight size and Fraizers bobbing and weaving style would be too much for Dempsey and Dempsey would be stopped by tko on his feet in 10th
Jack Johnson vs. Archie Moore Johnsons old style of fighting would do him no good against Archie Moore who would outbox Johnson to win comfortable ud

Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins in pretty dull fight Hopkins goes on defensive and jabs and moves with Hagler getting on inside sometimes and punishes Hopkins body but its not quite enough as Hopkins wins close but deserving ud
Roy Jones Jr. vs. Sugar Ray Robinson in one of the most even matchups ever both men land good shots with Roy landing harder shots while Robinson outjabs Roy but not by much and after 12 judges cant pick winner and its draw
Manny Pacquiao vs. Willie Pep Willie pep would frustrate Pacquiao by making him miss and win ud but he gets dropped twice in first round
Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Julio Cesar Chavez in all outwar both men are evenly matched but Chavez starts to get better of Barrera in middle rounds but then suddenly Barrera changes his tactics and starts to jab and move and wins last 3 rounds after full 12 crowd are 50-50 on who won when judges announce it Chavez wins 115-113 by all 3 judges in close contested match up
Hammerin Hank Armstrong vs. Pernell Whitaker havent seen enough of hank cant comment
George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston in all out war both men are dropped in first round but then Foreman stops Liston in 4th after one of greatest hw slugfests ever
Larry Holmes vs. Jersey Joe Walcott Larry Holmes outjabs Walcott and dances around ring and keeps jabbing and moving against Walcott and easily uds walcott
Bob Fitzsimmons vs. James "Lights-Out" Toney not seen Bob sorry

Well Diamond Dave if I was a betting man I would see it like this
Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Louis (heavyweight)--Ali. Joe would pressure him early and try to impose his will early. Ali though would start on his toes about the 5th. Joe would become tired from chasing Ali and frustrated at Ali's ability to take Louis best shots. Joe get's tired and Ali puts him away in the 11th or 12th.
Tyson vs. Rocky Marciano (heavyweight) --I think Tyson is suprised how strong Marciano is for his size. Rocky will stay in front of Mike and slug often geiiting the better of it. Tyson though has too much head movement and his combo's take their toll. Marciano folds in 7
Joe Frazier vs. Jack Dempsey (heavyweight) --Joe makes Dempsey fight his fight. With a fast inside pace. Jack swells Joe up with vicious right hands but can't seem to connect with more than a shot at a time. Frazier breaks the mauler down with his hooks. Joe tko's Dempsy inside of 12
Larry Holmes vs. Jersey Joe Walcott (heavyweight)--Walcott shows Holmes why he was able to stay in the game so long. He makes Holmes respect him early. Larry uses his jab to moderate effect in the beginning but lands more freely by the 7th. Walcott keeps Holmes thinking the whole way but eventually the jab is the key--Holmes by sd
Bob Fitzsimmons vs. James "Lights-Out" Toney (at super middleweight)--Bob goes right after the ever growing Toney. Doing his best to match skills with James. Toney briefly is caught off guard by Fitzsimmons but starts to counter punch with a vengence. Fitzsimmons gets frustrated with a guy who just rolls with everything and tries to hard for a ko. Toney catches him off guard and puts old Bob to sleep in the 12th
Roberto Duran vs Oscar Delahoya (at lightweight)--De la Hoya tries to fight Durans fight and slug with him. After some early success by boxing and slugging he gets roped into a war and loses a decision that had DLH looking hurt and greatful it is all over
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (middle)--Hopkins impresses us all with keeping Hagler guessing on what to throw next. Until he is caught one to many times on the ropes and starts to take some of Haglers brutal combos. Hopkins slows down and has a hard time out manuvering Hagler by the 10th and loses a decision
Roy Jones Jr. vs. Sugar Ray Robinson (at middle or supermiddle) This is a fight I'll pass on. In all fairness Robinsons prime was at Welterweight. Even though he had some great middleweight bouts. Jones was impressive as a fighter could be at these weights. IMO Robinson is easily a P4P greater fighter but Roy was a better Supermiddleweight
Manny Pacquiao vs. Willie Pep (featherweight)--Pacquiao stuns Willie early and drops him in the first or second. Willie though figures out the secret to Pacquiao as did Marquez and by the fifth is in control--Willie by UD
Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Julio Cesar Chavez (at super featherweight)--IMO this is a fight that depended on who wants it more. both are great and both are legendary. IMO it just depends on whose night it was..This is one of those things that a series could happen with each taking one
Hammerin Hank Armstrong vs. Pernell Whitaker (at lightweight)--Pernell has his moments and occasional controls the bout but for the most part Armstronge keeps Pernell on the defensive and with little in return..Armstrong by UD
George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston (heavyweight)--Sonny comes in with the bully mentality but is soon calmed down by a big geroge right hook. Liston tries to match blows but soon finds the size diffrence to be to much. By the 5 Liston is discourged and KO'd
Evander Holyfield vs. Sam Langford--Evander comes in and tries to outbox Sam. Then decides to go for the inside game in about the 6th. Langford begins to wear down Holyfield who even though he is in great shape as usual can not keep going shot for shot with Sam. Langford fought more frequently and was used to the constant pace. Holyfield manages a late fight rally but again fades when the final stretch arrives. Langford in split decision
Jack Johnson vs. Archie Moore (heavyweight)--Moore confuses Jack for a while with his awkward defense. But Jack eventually gets frustrated enough to become angry. Once angry because Moore is making him look bad. Johnson decides to make it a fight. Johnson who fought best when he thought his opponent was trying to make him look bad comes on in the mid to later rounds and tko's Moore
Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Aaron Pryor--Tough one to predict at 140..IMO Pryor owns anyone. Ray comes out trying to be cute. Leonard as in the Hearns fight trying to prove a point momentarily gets stunned and turns into a puncher. A mistake he soon regrets and is made to pay by Pryor by getting dumped on his rear end. Leonard then decides to go on his bike and box for his life and the fight ends in a draw
Felix Trinidad vs Tommy Hearns (welterweight)--Trinidad goes in and tries to take control of the fight early and hurt Hearns. Tommy boxes Felix during the beggining. Trinidad mistakes Hearns boxing for Hearns being scared to go toe to toe. Trinidad thinks he smell blood on Hearns and believes the hype Tommy has a suspect chin. Hearns a top notch boxer when need be just goes with it and allows Felix to get brave. Just as Trinidad thinks he is in control Hearns starts to go at it toe to toe and Trinidad gets caught by a straight right on the way in. Tommy puts Tito to sleep in the 8th leaving Trinidad once again thinking about retirement

Hearns had too much firepower for Trinidad. His jab was the best Tito ever faced and his right hand was more than Tito ever faced. I think Tommy wins easy enough because Tito did not have a great great chin, it was ok, but usually Tito was moving forward and punching when he won, but if he had a guy like Hearns he would be on the other end of the punches. Hearns by knockout early.

Ali outpoints Joe ud or stops him late to fast of hand and foot
Tyson v Rocky i think if Rocky doesnt get cut then he wins inside 4 but a Tyson blowout not otta the question.
Frazier wins this 1 for me by mid round KO , i just think Dempsey would be to small.
Holyfield v Langford , this is really impossible to call as ive not seen any Langford fights but ive heard alot about him , Evander was dominant at Cruiser so im going to pick him , but who really knows.
Jack Johnson v Archie Moore this is a good matchup , but im going to say i think Archie could have won this 1 on points , i think he could fight at a higher pace than Johnson.
Sugar Ray Leonard v Aron Pryor , i think this 1 again goes to points and Leonard wins, im basing my opinion on the fact that Leonard fought Duran / Hearns /Hagler and beat them all , Pryor beat Alexis who was a smaller guy so , i think Leonard on points.
Duran v Oscar . Oscar has fought the best of his era and is a top fighter but Duran is a Great , i think he wins on points.
Marvin Hagler v Hopkins i think this would have been a tremendous match and i think a close maybe split for Marvin based again on Marvin fought better oposition .
Sugar Ray v Roy Jones this is a match of speed and power at its best , i think Roy was a great fighter and loved to watch him , but Ray was the GREATEST fighter of all so im going for Robinson on close point verdict.
PACMAN V Pep fast powerful slugger v boxing defensive master , i think Pep wins on points outboxing Manny , and in the rematch i think Pacman catches and KOs Pep.:)
Marco Barrera v Julio c Chavez i love Barrera he is a top fighter but im afraid Chavez eats him alive , Marco hasnt got the power to hurt Julio so Chavez batters him inside 5 rounds for me.
Hank Armstrong v Sweet pea all out windmill v defensive master , i think Sweet pea wins on points but hey again who really knows Hank was a god !! and may also wins ...... no i changed my mind DRAW !!!!!!
Foreman v Liston for me this is a great fight but im araid i see Foreman winning inside 3 round i think he had the edge in speed and power , may have to get off the deck in round 2 to do it though.
Larry Holmes v Joe Walcott i dont think this is a hard fight for Larry to big for Joe i think Larry wins by wide points or late stoppage , his Jab just to good for Joe.
Ruby Robert v James Toney hmmmm this is again so hard to pick lol none of us have seen much or Bob so im basing my choice on the fact that a 37 year old Toney took the punches of Sam Peter a big heavy so i think it is unlikely that bob can hurt James , but Toney had stamina problem in some fights , but that aside i think Toney on points to slick a boxer for Bob.
Felix v Tommy Hearns there is no doubt in my mind this would make u sit on the edge of your seat , Felix had power to hurt Tommy no doubt , but im afraid he wont get chance to use it the taller faster Hearns lands a right bomb in round 1 Felix is saved by the bell , then in round Two The motor city cobra stricks again and felix rises , only to be met by a HITMAN !!!! no escape for Felix Hearns isnt Lushing /Oba Carr / Campas he finishes it fast swift WELL LIKE A HITMAN .

Joe Frazier vs. Jack Dempsey (heavyweight) Frazier's relentless bobbing and weaving into position to fire his lethal hooks proves too much for the smaller Dempsey. Frazier by TKO in the 10th.
Evander Holyfield vs. Sam Langford (cruiserweight) A ridiculous battle that has both men tasting canvas. In the end, I say Langford takes a close decision. He is too seasoned, and his relentless and powerful offense keeps Holyfield at bay and on the defensive. The Real Deal gets his licks in but loses a SD.
Jack Johnson vs. Archie Moore (heavyweight) or cruiser) A great stylistic fight. Archie Moore pulls off the upset, out maneuvering, countering, slipping and out boxing Johnson to a unanimous decision.

Oscar who has a big height advantage tries to stand his ground in the fight, making the same mistake that Sugar Ray made the first time around. Duran by unanimous decision. Oscar does not walk away looking like the pretty "matinee idol" as Larry Merchant loves to refer to him as.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins (middle) Hopkins' ability to turn a negative into a positive becomes evident once again. He uses the Hagler's size and southpaw style to his advantage and boxes smart to win a decision over the Marvelous One.
Roy Jones Jr. vs. Sugar Ray Robinson (at middle or supermiddle) Sugar Ray Robinson proves why he is the greatest fighter that ever lived, even at Jones' lightning fast prime, Robinson is still good enough timing-wise and speed-wise to catch him clean a la Tarver and Johnson's KOs over Roy in his later days as a light heavy. Sugar Ray Robinson by 12th round KO.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Willie Pep (featherweight) Will-o-the-wisp is too much movement for the straight ahead barreling PacMan onslaught and although Pac is able to drop him once or twice, Pep wins a clear cut decision over the Philipino icon. Willie Pep by unanimous decision.
Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Julio Cesar Chavez (at super featherweight) The great Chavez goes right to Barrera's body with hooks and engages The Baby Faced Assassin in a war from the start. Barrera puts up a great fight for ten rounds but is eventually outworked and knocked out by the Mexican legend.
Hammerin Hank Armstrong vs. Pernell Whitaker (at lightweight) Whitaker's uncanny defensive skills and left handed style cancel out against Armstrong's unbelievable offensive attacks. An extremely entertaining fight that ends in a draw.
George Foreman vs. Sonny Liston (heavyweight) George Foreman by 5th round KO. The bigger, rangier Olympic champ puts the big hurt on Liston and stops him cold in less than it took young Cassius Clay to do it.
Larry Holmes vs. Jersey Joe Walcott (heavyweight) Another ridiculously cool style match up. A back and forth strategic slugfest with great movement; slips, parries and counters. Larry Holmes takes the split decision victory by a hair.
Bob Fitzsimmons vs. James "Lights-Out" Toney (at super middleweight) Fitzsimmons is the harder puncher and has great stamina but Toney makes him look foolish, confusing him with his movement and slips in enough counter punches to pull off a unanimous decision win.
Felix Trinidad vs Tommy Hearns (welterweight) Hearns'reach and movement give him the opportunity to land his big right hand and the length to stay away from Trinidad's lethal left hook. Tommy does not make the mistake of standing in front of Felix; he works the jab, circles right and unleashes that supernatural right cross again and again, finally catching Trinidad clean in the 10th and ending the night. Thomas "The Hit Man" Hearns by 10th round KO.
Ok, this makes no sense....Frazier is to big for dempsey..even though he only fought at about 20 pounds more the dempsey..yet Marciano knocks out Tyson even though tyson has him by a good 35 pounds???/ personelly i think dempsey stright up beats frazer because i think he is a more versitle fighter...but i think tyson is to big..with to much speed for the Rock.
