Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
In my opinion it's either the English or Irish, maybe a tie, but pressed I'm going for the English.
When I consider all the most atmospheric boxing crowds I've ever seen they are without exception English or Irish domestic fights. The big venues in the states just have zero atmosphere compared to Bernard Dunne in Dublin or Ricky Hatton in Manchester.
Irish fighters can even sell out Maddison Square garden, such is their popularity with Irish Americans.
Traditionally English fighters don't like to travel but the same cannot be said of our fans. Whenever an Englishman is fighting overseas you can guarantee he'll have at least 50% of the crowd behind him no matter who he's fighting.
As far as I'm aware American fans don't travel much at all, Mexicans probably can't afford to and most of the other nations are pretty much indifferent to boxing.
What do you guys think, who has the best fans?

Most passionaite but at thesame time the least educated .
Sometimes our behaviour is terrible vendors love us because we throw our money around but our treatment of locals borders on shameull.
Alot of people on this forum might not be happy with whatv im about to say but the Welsh with a beer in them are fucking nightmares both in a good way and a bad way.
Londoners are the most hostile and the Geordies are very hospitable .
Been allround the country but the best atomosphere is York Hall you can peel the atmosphere off the wall .
Only been abroad to watch Football.

Irish baby!!! We are loyal to our roots, shit Ive never even been to Ireland and for some reason I have always considered myself Irish even tho I was born in America. I always root for the Irish guy even if I know hes got a snowballs chance in hell. I think its a genetic thing, blinding loyalty.I even paid for the Duddy pay-per-view.....loyalty baby!

Yes, I am the same about Azerbaijan. I have never been there, don't speak the language and don't know anyone really from there. I was not born there either, but I have decided that is where I want to be from.
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
I am Irish decent , thats the funny part about Americans, we are all transplanted cultures. No one claims America its always African-American, Mexican-American.....no one wants to be considered just American.(I blame the government) I dont want to start ranting about politics on a boxing forum so I'll just stop there. I guess Irish-American is what I am..its just a pain in the ass to have to hyphenate everything.
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
I voted "Other" since there was no option for Mayorga fans like myself. Ricardo Mayorga fans are THE best boxing fans in the world. Bar none. O0

I think this statement is pretty far off. How do you think fighters like Barrera and Morales have managed to sell out arenas in Las Vegas for years (Barrera-Marquez being the exception)?
It's not because of Americans, it's because of thousands of Mexicans driving/flying up from Mexico City, Tijuana, and all points in between.
Listening to the crowd during the Hamed-Barrera fight, judging by the noise, there seemed to be just as many, and probably more Barrera fans than UK Hamed fans. Or maybe it just seemed that way since Barrera was the one doing all the punching.
Julio Cesar Chavez drew 130,000 for his fight against Haugen, and 65,000 for his fight with Whitaker.
I would argue that Mexicans are the most loyal and dedicated fans that the sport of boxing has. And I'm not Mexican, so I'm not saying this because of any personal preference.
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
I go for the Zab fans. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary they always believe that he has learnt his lesson and is one fight away from becoming the P4P number 1 ;D
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
I can't truly say who is the best kind but i do know this,,,,English and Irish fans are the most vocal...How can you not be pumped as a fighter hearing all those fans cheering their chant in unison??
If I was a fighter it would boost my adreniline something fierce
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
Definately ;)
The Noise when Calzaghe or Hatton come out is near on a football match.
English no question 8)
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
the english mate. im biased because im english myself but from what i've seen and experienced we are the most vocal and create the best atmosphere. generally a beer fueled atmosphere but none the less we make it a buzzing place to be.
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
Don't forget that we do (hatton) and always have invaded the US (Bruno used to bring 7,000 easily to Vegas) and out shout the yanks NO PROBLEM.
Due to beer i agree ;D
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
hard to say...
but the best boxing matches are between two dedicated countries. for example puerto rico vs mexico.
we can't just say americans irish mexican or english or others. i think it takes two to bring out the best fans of the world.
Re: Who are the best boxing fans in the world?
I say the English, those facks are always singing and shiot like that. Angerland Angerland Angerlaaaand.
THe Hamed-Barrera fight was electric.
In terms of Mexican fans. I love going to fights where the audience is predominantly Mexican. The shiot talkin that goes on in the seats is freakin hilarious.
