Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Tuesday, April 3 2007
Edison Miranda: I want to know what Pavlik is doing on this line with all of these adults. He shouldn't even be on this call....I'm going to knock out Pavlik, even my grandfather can knock out Kelly Pavlik....On May 19 in Memphis everybody is going to see a great fight and I have a question for Kelly Pavlik -- Are you sleeping well?....I feel I am the best middleweight in division and I haven't fought blown up welterweights because I would have been embarrassed. Pavlik hasn't fought anyone and my grandfather is 100 and could knock Pavlik out....To me it doesn't matter who I fight. I will fight whoever I need to fight whether it is Jermain Taylor, Kelly Pavlik…whoever I have to fight, I'll fight....I haven't seen anything from Pavlik. He is dead. He's dead as a boxer....Panthers are special and go hunting for deer and rabbits and May 19 I will go hunting for a phantom.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kelly Pavlik: I take nothing away from Miranda but in the Allan Green fight I didn't see anything. I saw him (Miranda) get dropped early and I didn't see Green fight much. Miranda let Green come forward and set up. I know my punching power and ability and am very confident with this fight. Once I beat Miranda the critics will have something to say again....Having this opportunity is great and it is something that everybody wants. It's a dream and once I get passed Miranda convincingly I should get my shot at the title.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pavlik's Promoter Bob Arum: Our plans were to fight Jermain Taylor but obviously he plans to fight jr. middleweights or blown up welterweights. We think Kelly is the best fighter. He was extremely competitive in the amateur days with Taylor and Kelly Pavlik is going to be next middleweight champion of world. It will be either by beating Jermain Taylor or someone else.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Miranda's Promoter Leon Margules: Edison will fight best fighters in the world and will do whatever it is he needs to do to fight the best.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taylor's Promoter Lou DiBella: Edison might be best self-promoter I've seen in a long, long time, especially for someone who doesn't speak English. We will get the chance on May 19 to see if Edison can back up his talk.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Miranda by KO, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters. Boxing needs more of what he brings. That being said, I wouldn't be too surprised if Pavlik won this fight, but I don't think he's ever fought a monster like Miranda before. I think that this fight could be what Miranda/Green was promised to be, I wouldn't be surprised if it is a short fight with both boxers hitting the canvas at some point as both seem to suffer defensive lapses and both have power.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
IMO pace of the action has a lot to do with this fight,,,If Miranda goes all out on Pavlik and let's him know early who is in charge I see a ko for him...If he lets Pavlik get comfortable and does not make him fight his fight it could be trouble for edision...No matter what I go with Miranda by KO
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Pavlik will let his fists do the talking on Mirandas head. :jabbing:
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Bob Arum does not sound to confidant about Kelly Pavlik judging by the following coment:
Quote:
Kelly Pavlik is going to be next middleweight champion of world. It will be either by beating Jermain Taylor or someone else.
This don't sound right at all.
Does Arum think Taylor will lose to Spinks?
Or does Arum think that Pavlik will lose to Miranda and later Pavlik will be fighting Taylor again sometime in the future? Like, is Bob Arum saying the Miranda will lose to Taylor?
I don't get it.
All I can say is that I see Miranda beating Pavlik and then beating the man that fights backwards Jermain Jackson Taylor.
Bob Arum has never confused me with his comments like he did in this one.
Reading between the lines I think Arum thinks that Pavlik does not have the experience yet. But he will in the future. But to see Jermain Taylor as champion some where down the future is something I do not invision.

Arum gave Dibella a hard time for him putting Jermain into fights with little guys. I think he is wishfully hoping Pavlik pulls a win out of his ass against Miranda and than Taylor ducks him and retires the belt. Not gonna happen, but I think that was his point.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
This could actually be a very good fight.. Miranda has a huge edge in experience already.. Pavlik hasn't fought anyone close to Edisons calibre and he has looked a bit leaky with his defence especially early on. He does have some nice skills though, he has a great left hook(which Miranda can be very open to) and a good right hand. If he improves his combination punching and actually puts the two together I could see him doing very well.. Just depends how he'll handle the step up and whether he'll focus on defence early on. I think his skills are better than Miranda's. We'll see how he takes a punch though, that's for sure. Pick em fight really for me, since Pavlik hasn't been tested.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Pavlik has some good skills, he can bang with both hands, I really think he will put an upset here.
Since I saw Miranda losing agaisnt Alexander who had a broken jaw...I'm not that impressed..
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!

Who is this Alexander guy he fought ???
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Pavlick by ko. Miranda is too raw.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
I'm not really a fan of either fighter, but ill tell you from what ive seen that pavlik has little chance. I've seen a couple of his latest fights and their is nothing impressive about the guy. He looked boderline horrible.
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Will be a great fight. I see a Pavlik win by KO in the mid rounds. :box3:
Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Here is the audio from the conference if anyone is interested... (funny to here Arum throw jabs at Dibella)

Re: Miranda, Pavlik raw quotes!
Interesting matchup! This is the one that many of us have been waiting for. The edge definitely goes to Miranda as he was in with the better opposition, but this could be a potentially VERY early night for either party. Great FIGHT! Will determine who is at the top of the totem pole and who gets the shot against Taylor.
CC to Pantera for keeping on top of this!
