WBA Suspends Parra
WBA suspends Parra!
The WBA has suspended former WBA world champion Lorenzo Parra and his manager Joao Santana for one year. Parra was scheduled to defend his WBA flyweight belt on March 19 in Tokyo, Japan, against local fighter Takefumi Sakata, but weighed in five pounds heavy and lost his title on the scale. According to the WBA, "Parra demonstrated an irresponsible attitude, clearly violating Rule 12 of the WBA World Championships Regulations." Santana was suspended for the violation of Rule 4.06 of the WBA By-laws.

This pretty much eliminates any chance of Parra getting a big fight ever again I would think. I know he had some sort of injury, never got the specifics on it but it's a shame because he did an absolute complete dismantling job of Asloum who won a gold medal and had really looked good up to that point.

Re: WBA Suspends Parra
Just checked boxrec he is only 28 I thought he was much older. But he could have been, and who knows maybe will be, a very good fighter. As good of counterpuncher as there is at 12, very accurate and throws in combinations. Not the best defense but a smart fighter.
But then the injury, the layoff, the loss and now this. The odds really seem to be stacked against him :-\

Re: WBA Suspends Parra
Yeah hes a really talented fighter but he really dissapointed me this time. One year is a long time away and a dont think he will return to where he was if he fights again.
