A super-middleweight unification between Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler is a fight that would interest HBO.

That came from the horse's mouth, with the American cable channel's main boxing man, Kery Davis, in town for the Welshman's defence against Peter Manfredo, Jr, tomorrow.

'We're looking to showcase the best fighters, wherever they're from,' said Davis. 'That's why we're in Cardiff.

'We consider Joe Calzaghe one of the elite boxers in the world.

'We see him taking on maybe the winner of Bernard Hopkins and 'Winky' Wright, maybe Jermain Taylor, maybe Kessler - if Frank Warren and Mogens Palle (the Dane's promoter) agree.

Warren was quick to emphasise that he would be happy for the WBO champion to face anyone.

'Joe will fight any one of those named,' he said.

'If they want to step up to the plate, we're ready.

yiour right who knows what deals have to be done to make fights. One thing i can guess though i reckon frank is well hard to do business with.

probaly not the best two promoters to try and strike a deal with each other ;)

your right though it'll be joes fault but he should be top of the pile already and not chasing it still. he has had enough time.

i have given warren alot of shit and don't think he is an angel, but in fairness to him he did make hopkins and RJJ both more than fair offers to fight calzaghe - both of whom at the time were considered top 2 or 3 P4P in the world and considrerd to be so much better than calzaghe...

I honestly don't think warren would think twice about making a fight with taylor or wright, if he made a deal to fight hopkins when he was pfp #1 why would he be worried now?

Joe by his own admission has (tops) 2 years/3 fights left so of course FW is gonna get the most out of him!!

Kessler is willing to travel and fight in Wales/Manchester/London if the money is right – he, his Team and both of the Palle’s have stated it many times. Calzaghe has never said that he is willing to fight Kessler in Copenhagen….even Calzaghe once before fought in Copenhagen on the Nielsen/Tyson under card.

Fair, then let the longest reign champion, Calzaghe, fight at home and pay Kessler a fair amount of money. Kessler’s biggest payday has so been around one million USD (Andrade - http://www.jp.dk/sport/artikel:aid=4315726/), so Kessler is not that hard to satisfy.

Palle was able to pay Beyer more than 1.25 million USD, so if Warren manages to pay Kessler 2.5-3-5 million USD we have a fight.

Taylor and hopkins are still beigger for joe right now than kessler; ! he beats them he gets MASSIVE in the us and makes him even more valuble to kessler - so kessler weoth 2.5 mill USD with HBO prolyl more favouring taylor or hopkins.wirght? i doubt that very very much.

Nice Link Elefant Beer, now we just gonna learn the others how to read Danish 8) but you are right about one thing I think that if Warren made Kessler that offer the fight would be on. For one thing Kessler really thinks that he can beat Calzaghe so he is willing to go to Wales for the fight to happen.

You might be right, but I am not sure that there is so much more money in US boxing these days (especially not in SMW). Why is Miranda, Byrd, Lacy, Brewster, Minto, Ruiz, Austin, Andrade and many other Americans going to EU for fights? Maybe it is our food ;D
