Has anyone seen this film yet? Wasn't released in the states as far as I know. I've read that it was poorly received in the U.K. I've read reviews that say it's a wonderful film, and other reviews that say it's disgusting and outlandishly misrepresents the historical period that it's set in.
I've seen it. It's a low budget film and not one to watch if you just want some big battle action but as a thought proovoking piece I really enjoyed it.
Not being Irish, and having never been to Ireland I can't comment on the films historicity but I felt that the acting was first rate throughout, all the accents sounded very realistic to me.
I don't know anything about IRA history so don't knew whether they were glorified or not really, but to be honest I think that there is ALWAYS two sides to any story and any conflict.
Not many things happen in this world purely out of total aggression and evilness on one side it's usually the result of something so I guess the film was probably fairly accurate.
I enjoyed it, actually watched it twice as I found it interesting. Not a lot of action but the dialogue seemed totally believable and it felt educational in a BBC docudrama kind of way.
Worth watching, unless you have rigidly dogmatic views one way or the other in which case it will doubtless be either too gloryfying or not gloryfying enough depending on your own point of view.
