How Bad Did The Cold War Screw Up Boxing
Considering the current crop of Ex-Iron Curtain boxers suddenly showing up
And that except for Spinks and Pinto every light heavy weight Olympic Light Heavyweight for 20 years was Communist, and the Silvers both those years were USSR and Cuba.,and for 12 years the Heavyweight Medalist was Cuban

I thought you were reffering to the modern cold war of goldenboy promotion and top rank promotion.
they need to shake hands and be friends to have pac jmm fight and some other big fights to happen.
Re: How Bad Did The Cold War Screw Up Boxing
I am not sure that it actually screwed up boxing, as the 50s, 60s and 70s were pretty damn good eras. The 80s were not as bad as it is now, even with many former communist countries now fighting pro?
However, we were robbed of seeing world class athletes like Teofilio Stevenson comepting with Ali, Foreman and Frazier, and also Savon with Tyson and Holyfield. Many of the cubans would have been inernational monsters and won world titles at all sorts of weights and I am not an expert on Eastern European amateurs in that period, but I bet there would have been some seriously good ones!!
