Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
He took flush shots off Gary Mason who had W 37 (34 ko's) flush shots off Tony Tucker flush shots off Tua same with Bruno and Vitali i don't know why some people think he has glass chin all guys i just mentioned could all hit very hard im no big fan of Lewis but to say his chin is weak is underrating his chin imo.

I think he had a great chin, just suspect defence at times!
Even Chuvalho would've got koed by the 2 punches that dropped Lewis ;)
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
I don't think Lewis had a GREAT chin, but he didn't have a weak chin either. I'd say his chin was above-average.
He got caught by two perfectly-timed punches, and he was also clearly out-of-shape and unfocused for the first Rahman fight.
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
In my opinion...Yes..Lennox's chin was HIGHLY underrated..
I dont get why they say oh Lewis had a china chin..
Lets see...Yeh he was knocked out in both his only losses...
But thats not the fact that he had a glass jaw..
Seems some people just cant understand..I mean look at the first Rahman fight..
You gotta understand..Good chin or no chin..When you a heavyweight, you move backwards with your hands down.. And you get caught by a big ol dude right on the sweetspot.. You gona get sparked..
Cc for the topic!
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
Off that mentioned group only Tua and Klitchko were big punchers.
Mason was a solid heavyweigt but not a massive puncher(against his fellow countrymen he was awesome at sometimes)
Tucker on the downslide of his career, not known as a kayo puncher.
And Big Frank had power but only one at a time
When Lewis was not motivated he could be knocked out by a fairy.
Prpperly trained he could take a whack at the whiskers

Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
Lewis had a good chin but there were times when he would get comfortable and get caught (a la "Rock") I don't think his chin was glass by any means but his defense was suspect.
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
I think Lewis said it himself once.."This is the hevyweight division anybody can get knocked out if they are caught"
Don't remember if those were his exact words but the point is. When you are fighting guys who weigh over 220 pounds, you better alwais be on your toes, because it only takes one good shot.
My opinion is, he did not have a glass chin. He just was not 100% focussed as he should have been in a HW title fight.
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
Lewis has taken flush shots from some of the biggest hitters in heavyweight history and just shook them off
He has a great chin , just ask Tyson , Vitali , Tua , Rudduck , Bruno etc
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
I questioned his chin for awhile. He always looked like he got wobbled, but he's just a little akward when he rolls with punches. He has been rocked a few times, when his heavy hands made up for it. After I saw an old, out of shape(miserably), Lewis take every shot in Vitali's arsenal, and walk right through it, I have to say I was impressed.
Chin- not the best by far, but definately not glass.
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
Lewis had the best chin out of the Heavies. He only got counted out once in his whole career.

Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
To be fair
Both of the fighters that one punch knocked him out, were undersized, and not exactly known for their one punch power
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
I've heard that Lennox's chin was glass and I've even said myself. But really, it wasn't. Lennox never had an iron chin, but it was solid, he just got caught with two perfect punches and then avenged both those losses. Bruno shook him up, Briggs really wobbled him, but he didn't go down and he ended up stopping both those guys. I'm still wondering if Lennox was/is gay or what the deal is. I know he got married recently but still... :cwm13: ???
Re: Was Lennox's Chin Underrated ??
Yes. He took allot of shots from Ray Mercer in a bout that I thought that he lost. Getting KO'd by McCall, and the perfect right hand that Rahman hit him with would have KO'd most HW's - it's certainly nothing to be ashamed about.
