Boxing match chaos as mum knocked out
POLICE and boxing authorities are investigating claims that a Ferndown mother was punched and knocked out by a teenager her amateur boxer son had just defeated in the ring.
Jean Weaver, who suffered facial bruising, says she was attacked after seeing 17-year-old Iain, who boxes out of Southampton's Golden Ring Club, win a bout against a London opponent in Liverpool.
Mrs Weaver, 39, was watching from a ringside seat when Iain won his semi-final championship clash at the Everton Park sports centre.

When the referee announced his decision, witnesses claim violence flared and Iain's opponent allegedly punched him in the face after the boxers had removed their gloves.
Following the alleged assault, trainers and fight organisers intervened to keep the pair apart.
Jean claims she was then hit by the opposing boxer who, she says, ran around the edge of the ring to continue threatening Iain.
"Next thing, I'm being woken up and my head is in agony.
"My jaw hurt and my ears were ringing."
Iain's dad Jay Weaver said it was unlike any amateur boxing event he had attended.
"When Jean got hit she just fell like a tree.
"I was so upset but had to let the paramedics deal with her as I got Iain out of there," he said.
"It's so hard to believe. Most of the time boxers have their fight in the ring, but before and after the match they are good friends."
Jean was taken to hospital and told to visit her doctor if she suffers from discomfort once the bruising has faded.
"There was so much bruising they couldn't tell if I had fractured my jaw," she said.
Iain, who shares his birthday with his boxing idol Muhammad Ali, was unfazed and said: "I'm still determined to fight professionally and looking to the 2012 Olympics."
A Merseyside Police spokesman said an investigation had been launched into an alleged assault.
Iain's next bout will be in the Junior Amateur Boxing Association Championship Final at Crystal Palace on May 5.
The Daily Echo contacted the London boxing club which refused to comment, citing advice from solicitors and the ABA.

Good thing that this doesn't happen in the Pros after a dodgy decison - Jermain Taylors mother would have been fucked up bad bad by now ;D
Re: Boy's mum knocked out at Amateur boxing bout...
At the risk of being politically incorrect, I have seen loads and loads of aggressive scally-type womes effing and blinding and trying to hit blokes (usually when they are drunk and binge-drinking) They think they know that some bloke will not clout them one.
Now, I'm not saying that this woman was drunk or anything, cos I don't know, but it sounds as if she was at least a participant in the altercation. Anybody remember that bloke's mum who battered his opponent with her shoe some years ago?
I'm sick of being lectured by social fascists who want to be PC, and no offence to any women on here - and I know a few of you from your posts - but I believe that equality works both ways.
I mean, the guy could have dropped his shorts and really battered her around the ring ;D
