PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
Not really seen much of Mayweather outside of the ring but just watched the De La Hoya Mayweather 24/7 build up on Sky and I have to say I think the guy is an absolute prick. His use of the word motherfucker in relation to DLH anybody ???
Just wanted to see a great fight on Saturday and wasn't too bothered which way it went as long as it lived up to the hype.
But now I hope Oscar sparks him and embarrasses him good and proper.

Same here.
What a knob head.
His whole Family seems like the type of people you would not like moving in next door to you.

This thread is proof that Floyd is a marketing genius.

He said he chose to be the bad guy, a lil bit of extra publicity and marketing for the fight wouldnt hurt ticket sales.....The more the better

True, but he's trying to make this fight as big as he possibly can.
As much as he makes it seem so, it's not all about his purse that he's concerned about.
He wants this fight to be huge. He wants people talking. If he needs to be the badguy in order for that to happen, well then he's gonna embellish that fact every chance he gets.
He wants this thing to be huge for his legacy. He needs it.
Is his trash talking making the fight bigger?
Hell yeah, it is. People wanna see this fight more than ever. A lot of people wanna see it even more now just to see Floyd get KTFO.
I'm not trying to say he's the kindest person in the world off camera, but what you're seeing is a lot of hamming up for the cameras.
He wants you to hate him.

Exactly.
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
People who think Floyd acts like this for the SOLE purpose of selling the fight are being a bit blind. Floyd has always tried to sell himself off as likable but he always reverts back to his arrogant, self obsessed persona. That is one big reason he will never reach the superstar level of a De la Hoya. If he is not careful he will have that "villain" role pinned on him for the rest of his career. And hey...i could care less. As long as him and his fans don't try and front like it's all a show. You either act accordingly to try and reach a wider audience or you keep it "real" (as Floyd claims) and accept what comes from that.
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
Sure, the trash talking makes the fight bigger....but this is not the first time Floyd has acted like this. It just depends how Floyd wants to be perceived. He already isn't a super popular fighter. Does he want to be loved and popular? Of course he does...all boxers do. Does he always want to be the guy that the majority of mainstream boxing fans want to see get knocked out?
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
For someone who doesn't know Floyd...someone who is watching 24/7...what do they see. Aside from the arrogance and venom he spits...he also carries huge sums of cash around, gambles, cusses in front of his children, and has an entourage that stands around admiring him. You think that's going to make him the next star of boxing? No chance.

That's what I'm saying!
Anyone who doesn't know Floyd sees this and thinks, "Damn, what a pompous jerk. I wish he gets knocked out." Thus, bigger interest in the fight.
I'm not saying it's all an act on the show, but you have to admit he's exagerrating it to an extreme.
I think he's just going through a personality complex.
He tried to be good before. Nobody cared.
So he probably thought, "Hey, if the only way I'm gonna get attention is by being an ass, well then I'm gonna be the biggest ass I possibly can!" Like a troubled kid in school who only gets attention when he does wrong.
Except in this case, attention = making a name for yourself = $$$
He knows he can't outfavorite Oscar in this. No chance.
So he chose to be as bad as he possibly can. And he's doing a good job of it. He'll never outfavorite Oscar. You gotta make yourself known as best as you can. Being the bad guy was his only choice here.
What if he came out all good and humble? There wouldn't even be a 24/7 show.
Good guy vs good guy just doesn't have the appeal of good guy vs villain.
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
Meowza, i understand where you are coming from. And he will, and has, absolutely gotten peoples attention. But how does Floyd want the majority of people to perceive him? As a jerk? Check. As a bankable/visible superstar? Highly doubtful. If he wants to be famous for being the brash jerk who is unlikable...then he is doing great. But he is not going to get the endorsements, the love, the billboard/talk show fame. He has gone to such an extreme, whether it's an act or not, that he could potentially pin himself in that role for the rest of his career.....and deep down he cannot be at peace with that.
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
Which leads me to believe he is not as smart a business man as he, and some others, think he is. No problem selling the fight by being brash...but cussing in front of your kids, openly gambling, throwing around bags of cash....he wasn't smart enough to censor himself a small bit....so he wouldn't come across as a TOTAL jerk.
Re: PBF - what a tosser. Hope he gets sparked
You know, I agree with you.
Deep down inside, of course he wants to be loved. Evident when we see him during candid interviews where he talks about the lack of respect he gets after the Baldomir fight and such.
He's like a kid I said earlier. What does a child do when he can't get the love and attention in the positive way? He lashes out and seeks attention in whatever way he can.
It doesn't need to be all or nothing. Is everything we see on 24/7 the real Floyd? Of course not. Is it all an act? No, not all of it either.
He's just a person.
I never said it was a good idea for him to be doing this for his longterm interests.
I think his main focus is just for the now, now, and now.
I mean, where was this act during his Baldomir fight? He had nothing but nice things to say about Carlos during their presser. It just wouldn't have worked for that situation.
But what will make THIS fight big? That's what he's working towards.
It wouldn't surprise me if he goes back to the drawing board and tries to come up with a whole new persona for his next fight. Either that or end up joining GBPromotions.
