You are not too old, but you have to have someone training you who knows how to train boxers the right way. It wont be easy for you but if you dedicate yourself and are disciplined you could fight in the amateurs in a year mininum. Good Luck. Also, if you cant find a trainer, forget about it.

Exactly, age has absolutely nothing to do with it. I think that's why someone asked, is this for real? A post a recently made was stickied up the top. It's pretty hard to miss so have a read.
But really sounds like your only concern is their is no gym in your area. If that's the case then you'll have to probably travel a little. As long as you have a trainer that you can see even once a week, then you'll be okay. It'll give you a lot of stuff to work on at home, which if you do, and get your form checked every week, then that'll be enough...
I didn't think their was a gym around my town for years, but then I found out their was. I'm sure you're town probably has a police station. Go down their and ask them. Police usuallllly know places like this where you could train....
Another chance (if you've searched really hard for a gym that you can get too once a week and no luck) is you could put an ad in a local paper looking for a boxing trainer. Sometimes their might be an old veteran in your area that gives private lessons out of garage or something like that.. It's a long shot but we have a guy like that about 30 mins away from me that i'd been thinking about checking out for a few years before I found the gym in my town and got serious about it..
So yeah, forget your age that's just silly! if your serious about starting again though, you could alwayd download a bunch of instruction video's and get some equipment, but a gym/trainer really is essential if you want to have some serious progress.
