Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
From his interview on boxingtalk(just a part)
Q: "Floyd, you did say you hut your hand. "
FM: I said that. It didn't matter to me if I hurt my hand or not. In that type of fight, of course you're going to hurt your hand. That's on both sides. You can see this is my left hand. Obviously I wasn't too worried about my hand. Whether it was hurting or not, I said I was going to put it on him. The crowd was for De La Hoya. Now the tables have turned and it's pro-Mayweather. They were going berserk. He was throwing jabs and hitting my arms. He threw a couple of jabs that hit me on the arm and they went crazy. If I threw about six jabs that hit him in face, they would have said, "Damn Mayweather, you hit him with six straight jabs in the face." I was hooking him to death. Right hook, left hook, jabbing him to the body making him miss. I thought it was a wrap, but this guys a ten time world champion. I beat him like I beat him, and I'm still not good enough. That's why I'm leaving sports."
He has a point. He just beat Oscar and he still gets no credit. And I'm looking around the forum and agree with him partially here. Why stick around if no one is going to appreciate you?
Opinions?
Re: Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
we will appreciate if he uses his talent, and finishes off fighters.
He outskilled De La Hoya, and won by a small margin,
He didnt beat him or do a warp whatever that means, De La Hoya was not hurt, or even wobbled a little, let alone a knock down.
The thing why mayweather does not get credit is he has not been going for knockouts his last few fights, de la hoya was going for the knock down, or atleast hurt the opponent.

You always here the voice of the haters over any other voice lol thats a bullshit excuse and he knows it, he said before he was gunna retire so why use the oscar thing for? boo-hoo people love oscar more than you and you didn't get the credit you want? talk about a cry baby, good thing this boy wasn't british then he would of never survied in the UK the media slate our sports stars and do everything they can to ruin them lol
Re: Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
After hearing all of this I think he wont retire. He loves being talked about.
The haters will fuel him.
He ain't going no where. He has a few good years left him.
He will do what Oscar does and just fight once a year.
He has it like that now.
Re: Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
He also went on to say that after the first round he said to himself that he could do this all night but that he went outside of the gameplan and decided to stand in front of Oscar more because he wanted to give the fans a good fight instead of him boxing for 12 rounds. He said the reason he stood in front more and boxed less was for the fans because he didn't want them to feel slighted or robbed and that he KNEW that the fans didn't want to see him sit on his toes and box all night after the leadup. And he still wasnt good enough.
That would frustrate the hell out of me tbh.
he also said about the sombrero he was just trying to show love for Cinco De Mayo ;)
Re: Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
I say good riddance.. hell Floyd's got no class . delahoya match was slightly above average .. Nothing that exciting in my opinion..
Clottey -vs.- Corrales a few weeks ago. now that was a match worth watching !

No class? Here's something else he said, this time about Oscar and the fans and the judges
FMJ: He's a good fighter, he's a great guy, he's a great promoter. I have nothing bad to say about him.He has a lovely family, and I wish him nothing but the best in the future.
I was comfortable with the judges, they all did a great job. Oscar De La Hoya is a great champion. Golden Boy is a great company. All you guys have done a hell of a job. We must understand this, me and Oscar, we didn't do this by ourselves. You guys helped, every media, every photographer, every writer, all the internet pages, I appreciate you. I'm saying thanks, not just from me, but from team De La Hoya and Golden Boy as well.
Mayweather is just a classless biggot right?

Thats fucking terrible. This is boxing, its about skill, whos the better man and who can win fights. A guy shouldn't have to knock everyone out to be appreciated (and if he does than its a sad fucking time for boxing). Willie Pep hardly knocked anyone out and he's considered one of the greatest. What about Ali? He's coasted to more than one UD when he was outclassing his opponent, but he doesn't get shit for that, everyone still thinks hes the greatest.
Man, if you guys only appreciate knockouts, maybe you should stick to toughman or street fight videos on Youtube.

Forget what he says for a second!
Ali didn't literally make medicine sick. What of it?
Have you people never heard of the concept of trash talk before??
Sure Floyd's arrogant. How does that take away from what he does in the ring?
If he stated in interviews that he absolutely sucks, would that automaitcally make him better in your eyes somehow?
Forget what he says. Judge him for what he does in the ring.
It's funny how people who dislike Floyd hang on his every last word so much.

exactly if he did less talking then he'd be like a lot more, put putting on that arrogant act is surely going to get lots of fans against him. add on his fighting style then yup it'll take a real nuthugger to like him. and plus his not just arrogant with his words outside the ring, watch him inside the ring same floyd. i don't know what his talking about not being appreciated, everyone knows he got skill but everyond knows his fights aren't all that. i think he wants fans to appreciate his fights not just his skills, well if thats the case he needs to finish big and fight with a lot more effort just like the past great fighters did, and thats why we remember great fighters because they where all great not just skills wise but they put on great fights even if it meant abondoning an easier way to victory.

Right Majesty, you keep believing that....
You and I know very well why he did that, his uncle did it to clown and PBF did it to clown. What about the shirts they were wearing?
I take you also think he did that out of love right?
I got a question for you something that someone else pointed out.
How would it look/be if they had fought on something like Martin Luther King Jr. day and ODLH came out wearing a fro?
Do you think people would believe ODLH would be doing that out of love?
Really think about it.
Re: Mayweather makes it clear why he is retiring
spot on mate cc mick
Floyd coming out in that Mexican outfit was in poor taste.
