It'd make Ricky a household name. There would be some deluded people who try to diminish it, but far as I'm concerned you can't fluke your way past Floyd Mayweather.

If hatton beats mayweather nothing in boxing will ever make sense to me again, i give hatton about a 1% chance of winning.
Mayweather is better than him in every single way apart form maybe holding onto a fighter for the second half of the fight.
I see no way hatton beats him, mayweather will possibly even let his hands go early and knock hatton all voer the ring, if he boxes him (and hatton better hope he doesn't) i really expect him to make a fool of hatton.

If he won, we'd see all of what you just described.
There would be the "I told you so" people. There would be the "it was a fluke" people. There would be "Floyd took him lightly" people.
Personally, I don't believe in fluke wins (of course there are exceptions, if Floyd threw a punch at Ricky, slipped, and knocked himself out, that would be a fluke win). But when you are on that top level, it comes down to who is the better man that night. If Ricky were to beat Floyd, I would be incredibly impressed and it would obviously raise my feelings towards Ricky.
And obviously it would Skyrocket Ricky's popularity, because Floyd isn't exactly the most popular fighter in the world, and I'm sure there would be TONS of people who, even if they never really cared about Ricky before, would jump on his bandwagon if he were to take Mayweather's 0 away.

I agree with Sovereign, if Rick beat Floyd it would not be a fluke.....it would be like the Tszyu fight. Simply wanting it more and being willing to trade and take chances to get there, thats Ricky hatton all over.
I would be shocked if he won but I have followed Ricks whole career and I know what he was capable of. Hopefully he is still THAT hungry when facing the better fighters out there, like Castillo. We will see........
Floyd was impressive at 154 though and looked stronger than I thought he could be at that weight. Floyd would be stronger than Rick I think at 147........something I thought was a total opposite of that a year ago.

This is not a question of if he is able to do it, more of a what would you think if he did. Please don't turn it into a Hatton is rubbish and can't beat Floyd thread. I don't care about that at this time. I'm more interested in the general concensus on the forums of how would you react IF he did.

I know that there alot of Hatton haters and an equal measure of Floyd haters on this board, so I actually expect a balanced view of opinions.
Please don't hate me for asking this question, I know that the specifics of the fight would affect opinions, but that gutting feeling when a fighter you love loses, or one you know will win wins is a result of prefight expectations. I'm just curious that's all.
I for one Like Ricky alot as a fighter and as a humble likeable down to earth gentleman... That dosent mean I think he stands a chance in hell of beating Floyd... But 1st and foremost I am a huge fan of the sport and if Ricky beat Floyd I would humbly give Ricky all the credit in the world...

Well Hatton certainly USED to throw enough punches a round to take the fight to Floyd....I worry about Ricky getting cut (even in a hypothetical fight, if that tells you anything).
I like Ricky but he seems to be a natural light welterweight and Floyd seems to hold weight well at 147. That being said he had trouble with Castillo at 135 so you never know.
Had Ricky beaten Floyd last year I would have fallen to the ground and PRAISED God, Jesus, and Tom Cruise and his voodoo magic

I wouldnt be overtly shocked if Hatton could pull it off. His style is the one above all others that could bother Floyd.
Floyd would be a big favorite though but there is always that possibility that Hatton could get it all right on the night.
Im interested to see how Hatton fights down the stretch against Castillo. Hopefully he has rectified his fading down the stretch problem. If he struggles again then there are clearly issues with Hattons condition.

I wouldn't be able to stop smiling. Partly because Ricky is a personal favourite but mostly because somebody would shut Mayweather up.

If the fight was made att 140 pounds and the ring was small I think hatton would stand a good chance of winning if throws vary many punches and keeps the prassure on all night...but on the athor hand I think floyd is just too good I still belive floyd would find a way to win

Right now based on recent events I would be amazed if Rick beat Floyd. Going back a while I would have given him something of a chance but now I cant see it. That said if he shows up against Castillo it might change things.
