Two-time title challenger Jose Navarro (25-2, 11 KOs) has been mentioned as Gonzalez' likely opponent. However, Navarro (ranked second in the WBO, fourth in the WBC, sixth in the WBA, and seventh in the IBF) will first face Roberto Gomez (14-14-2, 10 KOs) in an 8 round super bantamweight clash on the May 19 Jermain Taylor-Cory Spinks card in Memphis.
