Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
During a recent interview with the Newark Star-Ledger, WBC junior middleweight champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr. touched on the subject of a bout with unbeaten WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto. Mayweather told the paper that it's premature to talk about a fight with Cotto. He views Cotto as a good fighter, but also says Cotto makes way too many mistakes to ever beat him.
"Cotto is a good fighter, but he's too flat-footed," Mayweather said. "His punches are too wide. He'd never hit me. I'd see them coming all day. His good hand is his left; he's a converted southpaw like Oscar De La Hoya. The left hook I'll see it coming all day. His jab's too slow. And he makes a lot of mistakes."
I don't think he has seen Cotto's earlier fights were he showed how well he can box on the backfoot(man I miss when he used to do that) and although he is right about Cotto's left being his good hand, his right is pretty powerful too.I agree his jab can be too slow but at least Floyd admits he is a good fighter.

Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
Cotto poses a bigger threat than you're giving him credit for.
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
cotto does make mistakes and he is still improving, but i think he is very dangerous for any fighter and i also think that floyd will say cotto isn't good enough to beat him as an excuse to not fight him.
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
Now there's a revelation...Floyd saying someone isn't good enough and that is the reason he uses not to fight someone. Pretty typical if you ask me.
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
Floyd is not serious, after reading him say that cotto punches to wide, i had to stop reading.
Cotto is big trouble and floyd knows it.
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
i recommend him not to fight mayweather.
mayweather would make him look bad

mayweather cant make him look bad ...all mayweather can do is try to out point him and Hug him everytime he gets close.
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
If Floyd didn't fight people because he thought they couldn't beat him then he wouldn't fight anybody. ;)
What he really means is that there is not enough money in it yet. Like alwaise, money is the driving factor. I mean for god's sake he is talking about fighting Tito who would mean absolutely nothing at this point except money.
As for the fight, I like Cotto a lot, but I would like to see how he does in his next two fights against Judah and most likely the winner of Margo-Williams or Mously. After that a showdown with PBF would be HUGE.
My opinion is that if anyone is going to beat Floyd it is not going to be some big puncher or brawler because Floyds style is too good for that. Someone needs to try and outbox him, yes I sais outbox him. Keep your hands up and that jab in his face, make him come to you and time your shots. Timing beats speed. Throw combinations and out work him. The only thing that made the fight with Oscar close is that Oscar was outworking him in most of the fight. But Floyd is so good that even this might not work LOL
Re: Floyd Not Impressed With Miguel Cotto
If Cotto beats Zab, then the winner of Tony-Williams, Floyd will fight him.
And Floyd will beat him! :D
