Floyd should fight the winner of this welterweight mini-tournament
This welterweight mini tournament that's brewing up looks like it should be a good one. Cotto vs. Judah and Margarito vs. Williams. Some of the buzz that I've heard lately is that the winner of these two fights will fight each other. IMO, pbf should fight the winner of this little tournament. I think he gets much more respect than he already has if he does this. Personally, I would be satisfied with seeing him fight the winner of the Margarito/Williams fight. But lets face it, he'll use every excuse in the book not to fight either of those guys until he runs out of them. The only way that's going to happen is if this tournament plays out. Which I could see Cotto, Margarito, or Wiliams winning (sorry zab). That being said, we won't know the winner of this tourney for another year. I guess Floyd will find another big name that's past his prime to slap around in the meantime.

Here's a few questions:
What if Zab wins this mini-tourny? And forget about why he won't win for a minute and just assume he does. Should Floyd fight Zab again?
If not, what should Floyd do?
What's Mosley's role in this?

Exactly! Not to mention Joshua Clottey
I think that would make a great fight Clottey VS Mosely.. Dont sleep on Clottey, he was hurt in the MArgarito fight and could have easily gotten the nod
Re: Floyd should fight the winner of this welterweight mini-tournament
I've been saying all along that I'd like to see the welterweight division work out like this:
This summer:
Cotto vs. Judah
Williams vs. Margarito
November/December '07
Cotto/Judah winner vs. Williams/Margarito winner
Mayweather vs. Mosley
Summer '08
Mayweather/Mosley winner vs. Winner of the other fight
Result: An undisputed champ at 147

Right on! Clottey too.
Everything I have seen from him, barring injury, I have no reason to believe his name shouldn't be in the mix as well.
I love the guys style. Clottey can upset a number of these names on any given night.
A rematch against Tony or a fight against any of these guys and he's right smack there in the mix of things too.

I agree 110% with this...

If only it were that easy.....
right off the top of my head I can say getting Arum & King to put up their best fighters is #1 on the check off list.....
Re: Floyd should fight the winner of this welterweight mini-tournament
Exactly, while this tournament is playing out, I would love to see Floyd and SSM go at it. There's no reason why Floyd shouldn't end his career at an even 40 fights. Floyd doesn't even have to win...if he just steps in the ring for those two fights, I'll take back any disrespect I ever gave the man. But again guys i gotta tell ya, I don't see Floyd making this fight if Margarito or Williams come out on top of this tournament. He'll make the excuse that they aren't big enough names, even if they are. However, If Cotto comes out of it then things could get interesting. He has the star power to attract big fans, great knockout %, and a young undefeated in his prime. I could see that playing out like the first fight of Tarver/Jones 1 in which the public mounted so much pressure that Roy had to make it happen. It will be interesting to watch it all unfold. I may have convinced myself in this blog to pull for Cotto to win out in this tournament instead of Williams.

In a perfect world. I think it will play out like this.
This summer:
Cotto vs. Judah
Williams vs. Margarito
November/December '07
Cotto/Judah winner vs. Williams/Margarito winner
De La Hoya vs Mayweather
Summer '08
Mosley vs. Winner of the other fight
Early 09
Mayweather vs Winner of that fight
And I think it ends up Mayweather - Cotto.
