for some reason, im not buying into this. i would really love to see how guzman fights somebody credible since i havent seen any of his fights and to read all this hype about him here makes me wanna see him fight.. now i dont have a chance to see it.. do you guys think he punked out or its true or maybe its just a delay tactic(thanks to floyd joy sr!)

I think he hurt his hand. It's too risky to screw over HBO and have them blacklist you for no good reason.
I doubt he'd do it. There again, I remember him pulling out of a fight with then WBO Featherweight Champion Scott "the drunk" Harrison because he suddenly decided he wanted to move up in weight. I can't really work the guy out. I think Katsidis would beat him anyway.
As far as I'm aware, the fight is still on, just delayed and Guzman is still training using his right hand, so I guess it's legit.
There's absolutely no chance in my mind that Guzman would pull this fight, if there's anyone in the fight game with integrity in and out of the ring its Joan Guzman.
Theres nothing wrong with his hand, its his heart thats not working properly. he should get dressed up like the lion from the wizard of oz. then he can challenge other boxers by saying "Put em up" and when they accept the challenge he can run away the big scardey cat.Quote:

well seeing that hes slated to fight pacquiao as the front runner of his opponents in oct might have something to do with it too
I have a feeling you're right, p4p. On the 24/7 Oscar-Floyd, his hand looked fine when it showed him with floyd sr training. He could be hurt, but Pac brings more recognition and money, and Guzman could get his shot now, rather than later. If this is the truth, it's awful risky pulling out, and taking a chance of getting blackballed by the networks. Only time will tell.Quote:

First, he's a better fighter, but that's just my opinion, but still I doubt he'd back out on a fight he'd win.
But even more so, he wasn't forced to take this fight. It wasn't a deal where he'd been called out by the guy for a long time and felt like he was forced to take it because of public pressure. There was actually no real reason for him to take it, so why take it then back out, just doesn't make sense.
The only thing is that MAYBE he didn't really know much about Katsidis before, then watched some film and just decided he was too much for him. But I don't buy that, Guzman's a very confident guy, at least he appears to be, and I could be wrong, but I don't see Katsidis as some kind of monster.
I don't get it why would guzman fake his hands being hurt ??? I just hope the fight is still on with katsidis.
