Just Watched "The Hurricane" again last night, I have a few questions???
Like the topic says I watched that movie again last night. I forgot how good a movie that is. My question is Was Rubin Carter really as good as the movie made him out to be, or did they over do it a little to make it a better movie? Also if he was as good as the movie made him out would he of been an all time great if he never went to prison? I have never seen any of his fights. Just curious if anyone knows in here, thanks.

Thanks man I appreciate the reply. Yeah that movie is really good Denzell Did a really good job in it. It just got me to thinking after I watched it if he was really good and would he of been better if he didn't go to prison. I guess the movie made him out to be better than what he was. thanks again.

Blew me away that film
;D
Re: Just Watched "The Hurricane" again last night, I have a few questions???
It was good movie about a good fighter. Emile Griffith was no pushover, even after the Parret fight.
By the way has any of you read his book?

No I haven't read it, I remember hearing there was one out but still haven't checked it out yet. Have you read it... if so how is it?
Re: Just Watched "The Hurricane" again last night, I have a few questions???
Im sorry if this is very vague (as well as my spelling being very very bad) but if i remember right, there's a scene where he fights a white guy and 'suposedly' gets robbed.
Apparently, that was a big overstatement. Just cant remember where i heard it?

I wouldn’t go as far as to say all that .. I seen something about the "Top Ten Myths on Ruben Carter" a while back, looked like Bullocks to me, the writers personal opinion backed up by nothing. looked to be written by some racist idiot not attuned to the discrimination of black folks at that period of time. if you were black in the south and within 5 miles of a crime scene you were fucked. make no mistake !

Well Carter could of took a lie detector test and if he passed he could of got out of prison but he didn't take it amongst a load of other stuff imo he did do it im not certain but evidence they had it didn't look good for Carter.

CARTER'S LIFE" GRAPHICS:
-- Carter was NOT the No. 1 contender
-- Carter was NOT a "war hero"
-- Carter was NOT a child hero
"KILLERS' GETAWAY" GRAPHICS:
-- Getaway scene is misleading ... in Carter's favor
-- Movie "blinds" an eyewitness who saw it all
-- Movie clutters up star witness' clear view
"RACIAL ISSUES" GRAPHICS:
-- Racist pig detective never existed, filmmakers admit
-- Racism made bar a target for revenge
-- Racial profiling?? No ... Carter's car matched getaway car
"THE MOVIE DIDN'T TELL YOU..." GRAPHICS
-- 2 witnesses identified Carter's car as getaway car!
-- Survivor told friends Carter & Artis were the gunmen
"BOGUS ISSUE" GRAPHIC:
-- Phone record wasn't faked; time of call was well documented
"THEY JUST MADE IT UP" GRAPHIC:
-- Burglars "conspiring" to frame Carter were really 75 miles apart

Nicely done...you can get a complete breakdown of this POS from
http://www.ez-entertainment.net/feat...caneCarter.htm
The movie inflated his boxing skills as much as his "humanity"...a pure propaganda piece and I believe if Denzel knew the truth he would not have taken the part...
