Joe Frazier refiles suit against daughter after election

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier has refiled a lawsuit against his daughter, days after she won a primary election for city judge.

Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde turned over some of the documents that are being sought, but hasn't fully accounted for the money she managed for her father from 1989 to 2004, Frazier's lawyer said Thursday.



Frazier sued for the return of his records in April, but suspended the suit as his daughter waged a campaign for Philadelphia Municipal Court judge.

"Joe just didn't want to ruin his daughter's judgeship (race)," Frazier lawyer Michael P. Kelly said Thursday.

Frazier's lawyers believe he may be missing out on film royalties, product endorsement fees or other income perhaps promised in his old contracts.

Frazier-Lyde, a lawyer, took up boxing in 2000 at age 38 and won titles in three different weight classes.

She placed second among Democrats on Tuesday and is poised to secure one of two open seats this fall, given the city's overwhelmingly Democratic voting rolls. The job pays $148,000 a year.

She didn't immediately return a message left Thursday at her campaign headquarters.

haahha i know i posted about this and alot of peeps disagreed. but this shows that his daughter is not a lazy loser paris hilton and in fact she should be making decent income being a judge!

so everyone disagreed with me cuz they all thought she was just another lazy loser paris, but she obviously is smart/hardworking right to become a judge right?

so again why would joe really care so much since hes already old and set with his finances? unless hes seriously struggling? which i doubt? cuz im sure he made a crap load of money in his hay day and ever since??????? thats a lil bit greedy in my eyes. i mean how can one spend his fortune with how many more years he has left???????

Actually he is seriously struggling,he lives in a small apartment over his gym

Joe Frazier made no money off of his name. He sold his name early on in his career for a small sum, not really realizing what he was doing and now is paying the price for it.

What mainly happened is he got ripped off on a land deal in Bryn Mawr
Everybody else made a fortune,Joe got wiped out.
But he should have some residual royalties for the movies,records and commercials lying about.
Thats what the suit is about,getting back his records,so another lawyer can go over them and figure out whats what

WHOA my bad i didnt know! i saw him on sports center not too long ago and he was lookin sharp in a pimp asss suit. so i assumed he was sitting pretty!

Joe's been puttin up a front for quite sometime. He's a bitter bitter man at times with justifiable cause.
