Big Brother reaches a new low. Australian edition

Australian Big Brother has come under criticism for not telling one of the Contestants that her dad has died!

She's still in the house now, completely ignorant that this is world wide news :'( I just can't believe how morally wrong that is.

I find this absolutely sickening and revolting to be honest. They maintain they are acting on her families wishes but really, her freaking dad has died man, surely BY LAW they MUST tell her? ??? >:mad

I'm not close to my own dad but if I was on telly and my mum or brother or sister died and they didn't tell me I would be F****** furious beyond belief. I would sue them for everything I could and then work tirelessly to make sure they were taken off the air for good.

I F****** loathe these Big Brother shows >:mad

I absolutely can't stand big brother!!! It is complete rubbish and they play so much crappy games and manufacture 99% of the 'reality' that goes on in there that it's just like a really really really really realllllly shiiiity soap.. with realllllly shitttty actors...

And the Australian edition has the dirtiest dumb asssss scrubber washed up 2 bit hooker of a host that makes in competely 100% unwatchable..

It is one show that seriously won't be missed.... Why the hell do they keep bothering with it is beyond me!!! Money I suppose... If I was very rich, i'd pay them to NOT make it.

As for American Idol, why should I waste my time watching amateur hour?

The person should be told that the father is dead. It is a bit twisted to withhold such information.

I cannot abide reality shows in general. Its a good thing they are never shown out here.

The irony is they are keeping a big peice of reality out of a reality tv show. It wouldn't really bother me outside of the fact that that means i couldn't get to him first.

A little bit of the story revolving it though is left out to make this one sound a bit more shocking, but i'll type it out here so everyone can judge a little better.

- The girl in the house hadn't had a very good relationship with her father, and had only just started seeing him again not long before she went into the house..
- The father was very ill and everyone knew that he did not have much time to live now. Everyone including the daughter was very aware that it was most likely he would pass away while she was in the house.
- Her and her father and other family members had discussed the whole situation and the father and daugher had made an agreement together that if he did pass away while she was in the house, she would prefer not to be advised until she got out, because it would affect her time to much.

So my thoughts a little are, this is still a very wrong and touchy situation, and it just feels wrong that it's being kept from her.... But I think under ANNNY other circumstances other than the ones set out above, it would not even be thought about for a single second, and the housemate would be told immediatly.
But the housemate in this case is fully aware of the situation, and probably has thought of her father and if he is still alive every single day that she's been in there... I'm positive that she has not just forgotten about it... But in the time that her and her father had together, they both decided that they wanted her to get the most out of her time the house, and they would have said what they needed to say to each other before she entered...
I think if she's made an adult decision like that, and the whole family has agreed to it in a way that they feel it's best for their family,,,,, then I don't think it's for anyone else to judge whether Big brother tells the girl....

I also feel that if Big Brother did tell the girl, they'd be going against the wishes of the family...

The stories are making out like Big Brother is withholding information for the sake of the show,,,, but i'm positive that Big Brother would tell someone a family member has died in ANY other situation, and that they are not just doing this for ratings or drama.... They are doing this because they have been asked by a bunch of adults who are in the middle of the situation and have chosen that as they way they want to deal with a family members death..
I just feels a bit wrong, but death is a very personal thing, and I don't think that even a tv series has the right to decide what is right for a family that has already made it's choice..

I still f'n hate big brother more than any other show,,,, but on this one I think that they have to do as the family wishes..... I'm sure if any of the family members turned around and said they really do want the girl to know, Big Brother wouldn't hesitate to tell her....

What the articles are really implying, is that even though the family has said don't tell her, Big Brother has the obligation to just completley ignore them and tell her... Now THAT is wrong! and the only reason they would do such a thing IS for publicity and drama..... I think they're doing the right thing, even though they probably do feel bad and wrong about it....

Like, they are not keeping this information from here for their benifit.....
I think that's the biggest misconception about this situation.

It was ok when it first started but its same old thing now bit pissed off with it now i mean that racism thing we had over here was stupid and blown out of proportion but what just happened over there is disgusting should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah, that's how I see it too, as a dilemma... I mean, you can't put a single thing past big brother and i'm sure their are a million cheap shots they'd take to increase ratings and create drama and everything... And i'm sure this one they are trying to figure out how to make it win win for the girl,,,,, but mainly for them.. But I think they realise that this one they ready do have to handle carefully.. And I think that's why they havn't told her yet. Because in the end they can fall back on the fact they were advised by the family that that's how theyyy wanted it...
Fortunatly, at least in my opinion, they are handling it the right way, at least until the family decide otherwise...

But in real talk now,,,,,, this sort of sh!t is happening way to often on the show and everyone is getting tired of it... it is absolutely cheap entertainment that we honestly don't need on our tv's.... These sort of people should have to disclose this sort of information, and Big Brother should use some professionalism and refuse them entry... I mean they probably have a million people to choose from, and i'm sure they knew that during that girls time in there, her father would die and they'd have this big drama in the papers... Yet they these people in there deliberately....
It's cheap! It's crap, and the minute the show lost it's lustre they should have scrapped it!

As Ice said as well, it was okay at the start... The first series was something new and different for television and almost interesting....
From the second series on though, they made decision that they had to keep 'shocking' the audience and 'keep them guessing' and f'k with the housemates as much as possible.... To the point where it's not reality anymore but a really sub par manufactured soapie that just so happens to have real life people getting messed around with for the sake of the drama...
